Wow. How the HELL do you come up with:
"The chemicals used to make the juice “are more dangerous” than what is used in traditional tobacco products, Ray said. Also, he said, not all juices labeled “nicotine-free” are nicotine free."

And the student schmuck?
“I have friends who use e-cigarettes and they’re struggling,” said Hyde, student body president at Davis High School.
Struggling with what? Not punching you in the face?

I mean, I'm not "for" teenagers vaping. But the fact is, they're vaping instead of smoking cigarettes. It's less addictive; not addictive at ALL chemically unless they use nic; and it's thousands of times less likely to give them cancer than smoking would be. So FINE, do an educational thing about how "you shouldn't do nicotine" and "you're better off not putting anything foreign into your lungs". But DON'T LIE about vaping products.

Pisses me off.

PLUS, if Susie can't get her e-juice at the 7-11 anymore, she's gonna buy stuff from some hoodlum on the corner, who makes it in his bathroom. And he might screw up and give her 24 mg instead of 3. Then Susie will get a buzz, and it's YOUR FAULT, Utah!!

This is Utah and full of people whose religion forbid nicotine, caffeine, alcohol, etc.

"The group Hyde is forming will lobby for a bill Rep. Paul Ray, R-Clinton, plans to sponsor to make it tougher for teenagers to buy e-cigarettes, put restrictions on advertising the products and place a hefty sales tax on e-cigarettes."

I wonder how Hefty "Hefty" will be?

Might be a Good Idea to contact Mr. Ray and ask him what the Justification is for putting a Hefty Tax on e-Cigarettes?

Political statements/advertisements are specifically exempt from truth in advertising laws. We all know why that is.
Yes, politicians love to exempt themselves from the laws they expect us little people to abide by.

Won't do any good to contact Paul Ray. He's a Royal Duche. He's been trying to get ecigs completely out of Utah for years. Ray is so far out there, even the other Reps think he's crazy. Most of the stuff he's trying to pull isn't even constitutional. And, no one even ran against him in the last election, or we might have been able to give him the boot.
He has health issues that he blames on his parents smoking. So, that's kinda where he's coming from.

Well, then I guess the Only Thing to do is to Sit Back and Watch it Happen.

Yes, I've written my reps....and all I've gotten back were canned replies. My head hurts from hitting the brick wall. :(

Don't let the Canned Replies or Form Letters fool you. It would be Extremely Rare if you received anything else. I can Contact the Same Reps and be Completely Against e-Cigarettes and receive back the Same Form Letter.

But that isn't really the Concept of Contacting an Elected Official to express your Views on an Issue.

Because Elected Officials keep tabs on what Voter's Views are who contact them. Especially if they are the Author or Co-Author of a pending piece of Legislation.

The better question is why is a high school student worried about "hefty sales taxes"!

I wonder who really wrote that bill...

HS Students are Easily Manipulated. And make for Great Pawns in a "Save the Children" game plan.

He should man up to personal responsibility as opposed to blaming others.
It was those evil cigarettes and not choices that his parents made.

The student activism and the Utah senator are being directed.

He will be on the floor with highly edited and amazingly anti-vaping videos. The students will be at municipal boards speaking with matching t-shirts.

At least that is how it went in Indiana since we were the test.

The state senator that was the heart of it here, Yoder, is not seeking re-election. Seems he has everything he needs to retire from public service when just a short time ago he was considered an "up and coming for the next generation of leadership".

Take care there and be organized. These newspaper bit are cover for what is really going on within the chambers of power.
