Lori,

Since you are in Canada, you have no right to dis my government! That privilege is reserved for upstanding Americans like Neil Young.
</humor> (Some might feel that tag should have come earlier.....)

Great article, thanks for posting the link! I sincerely hope the tide is starting to turn; perhaps the sheer volume of dis-information spewed by the TLA's so far will actually work to our advantage, since they are so easily discredited on their fantasy-based positions!

Outstanding article.

I just sent it to all the people I know who still have any doubts about what is really going on.
Although the number of such people I know has, over the years, shrunk to nearly zero.

Education is the key to changing public perception.
And it appears that it will be left mostly up to us to do that educating.

twg: Unfortunately, wither thy gov't goeth, mine goeth likewise. Mine has gone so far over the last few years as to strongly imply that vaping is illegal here (it is not).
I figure the dust will settle on the side of sin-taxing e-cigs. For reference, a deck of smokes here is about $14 for 20.

Lori,

That first part was intended to be humorous. Neil Young is Canadian, and has voiced some of the most relevant and poignant criticisms of the US that I've ever heard. "Ohio", and particularly "Rockin in the Free World". (I don't know how he can get through that one without wanting to strangle the cheerleaders).

(And I've never quite understood why the term "American" wouldn't apply to folks from Canada, Mexico, Panama, Peru, etc. except that the US stole the term, and probably copyrighted it!)

A pack of smokes here is $10.50, but that's US dollars, so these days that's probably like 50 cents Canadian, eh?

twg,

Got the humour, even without the u. :) Knew Young was Canadian, but completely missed the ref to his US songs. I'll search them out and have a listen. Since we've got the North, and Peru et al has the South, guess that just left America for you guys in the middle. And then you got Alaska, and we're all one hodgepodge.

50 cents and dropping. Spare a dime, brother, and give a dollar, eh tu?

From the article:

Make no mistake: this is a real public health emergency. Almost a half million Americans die from cigarette-related illnesses each year

So, their data (the public health authorities) is totally spot on when it comes to cigarettes but completely off base when it comes to eCigs?

Naive much?
