I'm not sure what brought all of us together or what "pushed our buttons" to become vapers, but it has to be more than just hearing it's better in so many ways. Wish I could figure what it was, as I socialize with so many smokers daily.
I totally understand where you’re coming from.
Our smoking buddies are still our buddies.
:2cool:

Here's my slant …

Traditionally, smokers have always been a tight-knit group. Taking time out for a smoke break has always been a relaxing social event ... even with those who we have never met before.

You can walk up to smoker who is a total stranger and say Hey buddy...Can I bum a smoke? We all have been "out" and needed a smoke and can depend on another smoker.

Long before we were herded outside into corrals to take smoke breaks...We were buddies ... Banned to take our breaks in those corrals just brought us closer together.

Smokers have been pushed around and degraded for a long time. We've been told that we are nothing but a smoker. Those who quit and returned to smoking have been referred to as nothing but a smoker with no will power.

Those with a Quit or Die attitude ticks us off because they are referring to all who smoke…including our smoking buddies.

Vapers didn't stop smoking ... We just stopped smoking tobacco. Our buddies are still our buddies and we didn't turn in to one of those "reformed" smokers we hated to see coming back in the days when we smoked tobacco.

Vapers are drawn together because we are all smoking buddies. We don’t need to know each other personally. We are buddies (friends). We may disagree with each other about this or that…However; an attack on our movement is a personal attack. Not just against us but the lives of those that could be saved.

PS: Yea, I know we shouldn't use the word "smoking" when
referring to vaping. I used the “S” word only to make a point.
I promise not to do it again :)

Noticed this in the article
New—and very sophisticated—forms of the e-cigarette are now in development stages at
major tobacco companies who, regardless of their past duplicity, see the writing on the wall as fewer
Americans smoke and more and more try to quit.
I wonder what is meant by "New and very sophisticated forms of the e-cigarettes"
Regardless...I'm sure we won't thrilled with their business plan.

I cant find it now (of course) but I read where Philip Morris had an e-cig ready for market, and we were discussing how it would effect mom & pop vendors, and how finally maybe some real$ would be spent on research and testing. I'm still not sure how I feel about that. I have to think they will manipulate the juice just as they manipulated tobacco, to have an iron grip on us.

How can the Article be sent to the AP?

That was my first thought! Can somebody forward this great article to mainstream media outlets? I have no idea how to do that.

Petrodus, sorry I missed this, I have been busy and there are SOOOO many posts daily on this forum I can't keep up with them all. But this is exactly the kind of positive press we need!!!

Thanks for posting this article. The "quit or die" attitude kind of reminds me of the "Just Say No" or abstinence campaigns. And we all know how well those work. As I get older, I am beginning to realize that society seems to need someone or something to villify. Thankfully, we are starting to wake up to the fact that villifying someone based on race or religion is not appropriate. Society has switched to smokers as the focus of their villification. As smokers, we had a difficult time defending ourselves because we knew that smoking is harmful. We willingly abided by the rules set forth by non-smokers because we had no legitimate way of fighting the discrimination we faced. As more and more of us are making the switch to vaping, society is relunctant to ease up. They still consider us to be smokers and continue to treat us as such.

TRUE
Reference: E-Cigarettes in Public

I often review the posts on the e-cigarette in Public form
to keep my finger on the pulse thing. There we see, first hand,
the experiences and struggles of our fellow vapers.

Many of us who have been around for a while ... hit the the reply
key to share our thoughts, experiences, and suggestions to help
those struggling with their vaping in public issues.

Please note that Beth Whelan and the American Council on Science and Health (which Beth founded back in the 1970's) are very well respected by business groups, Republican legislators and by others opposed to unwarranted health and environmental regulations.

Beth and ACSH regularly appear in the Wall Street Journal, Washington Times, NY Daily Post and Fox NEWS.

That is why we must openly vape in public. To seperate ourselves from them, and inform as many people as possible about the facts and the unlimited success stories we all have. Every chance I get I'm hitting my eGo w a tank on it and directly attracting interest. I carry ECF bus cards, and I have had an overwhelmingly positive response. People will move from across a waiting room to sit next to me to make sure they are getting what I'm saying correct.

I agree and and know that many us get in there and help new vapers in the
E-cigarettes in Public forum. We know they need our support to give them
an educated "fast-start" with their desire to vape in public.

I remember back when I first joined the ECF and limited to posting in that
forum. It was such a comfort and an educational thing hearing what
seasoned members had to say on the various subjects.

How to present yourself and what to say to others when vaping in public.
Newbies really appreciate hearing from us because they are often unsure
and struggling.
