To be fair, it's Gawker. Often, comments on Gawker sites are only a couple of steps above YouTube comments.

E-cigs can have a profound effect on a struggling smokers life, I ended a 20 year habit using e-cigs and will defend them aggressively, as will many others who have had their life changed by e-cigs.

-Should e-cig users be allowed to "vape" anywhere?, No, of course not, basic polite manners apply just as they would with anything else, people who proudly make a point to vape in your face are douchbags and would be regardless if they vaped or not, some users are just very enthusiastic about switching from smokes to e-cigs which can be annoying but it is not an intentional attempt to offend and they will calm down after a while.

-Is the second hand vapor harmful?. No, many studies have been done on the effects of Propylene Glycol vapor dating back to the 1940's, the stuff is enert especially in the super low concentrations exhaled by an e-cig user, hospitals inject P.G. vapor into oxyegen lines to keep them sterile, athsma enhalers uses P.G. as a delivery medium, the stuff is everywhere. As for the smell, that depends entirely on the artificial flavor that has been added, some are pleasant while some are not pleasant.

Nicotine in tobacco is an entirely different thing, tobacco when consumed in any manner delivers Nicotine and MAOI inhibitors, Monoamine Oxidase Inhibition is a powerful mind altering thing and is the reason tobacco addiction is so powerful,

These things are just fancy Nicorette inhalers and shouldn't be feared, e-cigs have the potential to save the lives of hundreds of thousands of struggling smokers and deserve proper consideration.

Folks, don't try to rationalize your disgusting behavior. Admit that smoking is gross, whether it's cancer sticks or e-cigs. Then do something about it.

Exactly the comments I was referring to. I toyed with the idea of posting a rebuttal, but then quickly realized that I had about the same chance of getting through as I did of keeping a jellyfish alive in a blast furnace.

Seems like I need to brush up on my Internet pecking order. I've never even heard of Gawker before now and I'm only passingly familiar with Fark. Though, when you said it's only a couple steps above Youtube in terms of comments, that made a lot of sense.

Gawker runs a suite of sites -- io9, Gizmodo, Jezebel, Jalopnik, etc. Unlike more restrained sites like Engadget, Gawker doesn't censor its contributors and sometimes posts NSFW content that's only marginally related to the theme of the site it's posted on (like posting the tech of some sex toys on Gizmodo.) This, in part at least, seems to draw crowds from the less fashionable ends of the Internet and it definitely shows in the comments. That (and the format change some time ago) is what made me stop visiting Giz.

I still frequent Fark though. That's just a news aggregate site dedicated to collecting mostly the stranger stories and creating funny, usually snarky headlines for them. The commenters though tend to be quite snarky (darkly so at times) and home to a lot of memes. And trolls. But trolls are sort of accepted there and graded on the quality of their trolling, which tends to defuse the trolling's sting.

I think SHE broke up with him because she didnt find him being that fussy very manly.Hell I dont either, and hes just got sour grapes.

ArmchairZombieTherapist's real problem was stated when he said his girlfriend and him broke up over e-cigs... I'd say that why he is so worked up against vaping. She probably got tired of his nonsensical arguments and as he said, she chose e-cigs over him. Good decision, you go girl!
