As a never-smoker, I'm really liking e-cigs

So I've noticed most people who start vaping were smokers. I've never smoked (I took a drag off of a friend's cig once while drunk, as a couple of my friends like to smoke only when they drink. I coughed a lot.) I was curious what a nicotine buzz felt like, and after reading up on how actual nicotine is not seriously harmful I decided to give e-cigs a try. I just received 5 fling e-cigs and my favorite is menthol. I feel relaxed and the act of vaping calms me. Any others out there like me? :p

Although attitudes towards non-smokers who take up vaping are slowly changing, in the past this practice has been frowned upon in our community. Why take up a potential habit-forming drug (nicotine) if you don't need to? Most of us who vape took it up to stop smoking.

My daughter took up vaping once she became an adult. She was never a smoker, but wanted to vape as a way to relax with friends who smoked. Recalling that this was the age when I began to smoke due to peer pressures, I could agree with this.

She uses ZERO NICOTINE flavors.

You are an adult and free to use what you wish. Just consider the consequences that nicotine is a habit-forming drug.

You're an adult, so I'm not going to act like a parent. I'm not that old anyways haha.
I just feel it's pointless to vape with nicotine if you haven't smoked. There is no reason for you to. If you vape, do what Baditude's daughter does and vape zero nicotine. It doesn't matter if you read it's not seriously harmful, still no reason to vape with nicotine.

I quit smoking 2 packs a day and dipping 3 cans a day, I've gotten my nicotine down to 3mg. Soon I'll make the switch to zero.

I quit smoking over 4 years ago and recently started vaping because I enjoy it and it also helps me keep from relapsing to cigarettes. But I wouldn't do it at all if I didn't enjoy it.

I vape ZERO NIC. I've been meeting more vapers lately, and a lot of 20-30 somethings (most never smokers) that also vape zero nic.

Any beneficial effects that nicotine may have are far outweighed by its addictiveness. A lot of people here cling to the belief that nicotine is not addictive by itself. But if that were true, why do they continue to vape nicotine? Because they broke their addiction to cigarettes, and are still addicted to nicotine.

I find that vaping relaxes me, and fills the void leftover from having quit smoking. But I would never vape with nicotine. Too hard to get that monkey off my back the first time.

If you get a kick out of nicotine, caffeine works better than that, and there are even stores adding it to ejuice now.

To add to all the above, once your body gets used to whatever level nic you are using that "buzz" will go away. The only way to get is back is to up your mg of nic.

Vicious cycle if you are vaping for a "buzz".

Putting caffeine in juice doesn't work. Baditude posted this in another thread.
A chemist posted here on the forum that caffeine does not vaporize at the temperatures that our vaporizers use. If you are paying more for "caffeinated e-liquids", you're probably wasting your money.

Ok makes sense...Didn't mean to cause a backlash...after I'm through the 5 disposable so have (which honestly will take me awhile), I think I will switch to 0 nic. I'm interested to see if there is any e-juice with soothing herbs or something (like lavender) to achieve some sort of effect from Vaping. Don't get me wrong I also just like the action of Vaping

And I think nicotine is great. Adults who want to enjoy this safe legal drug should, because it feels good. It doesn't matter that it is habit forming. A lot of things are habit forming. Nicotine is not hurting anybody.
I also feel like the tobacco is what is most harmful and there are other addictive properties of analog cigarettes that you don't get with e-cigs. I will monitor how I'm feeling and adjust accordingly

IMO, nicotine is good. It feels good. It helps prevent serious neurological diseases. And it is safe. This is not something enjoyable only for former smokers, it's available for everyone.
Caffeine is good too. It feels good. It helps me wake up in the morning. It increases stamina. It improves memory. And it is safe. This is another safe and legal, yet habit-forming drug. You don't see people get all hopped up and wide-eyed about never coffee drinkers enjoying energy drinks.

I will .... Now you go to your room and don't come out until you can straighten up :w00t:

Once on this forum I suggested that a person not start up vaping and it resulted in quite the thread that got out of control and got the thread deleted by the moderators. The funny part about that event was I never told anyone that before as I always remained somewhat neutral in those regards to never-smokers. So, I won't say a thing here either.

Hope you enjoy this forum and all of it's varied members.

No backlash. Just a variety of opinions. Some people are horrified at the prospect of a never smoker vaping at all. Not me.

I just want to point out that nicotine is addictive. It really is. It's a very difficult addiction to break. I have a friend who's been using nicotine gum for over 20 years. He doesn't do it because he likes the taste. It doesn't take long for the addiction to set in, either. I got hooked during the course of a single evening when I was 14.

There is another aspect to vaping that is also addictive, and is common with cigarettes as well. The act of doing it is enjoyable. That's a better sort of addiction, though.

I would much rather someone take up vaping rather than smoking. I know that I started smoking as a stress relief, and vaping is the same for me. Wouldn't be the same without the nicotine for me, and I've got a few friends that picked up vaping without being smokers first. I'm personally all for it.

This is 100% my standpoint. I'd prefer non-smokers who now vape to use 0 nicotine, but I'm not your parents.

In the same sense, I'd prefer vapers who were smokers to not associate nicotine with places they didn't previously smoke (ie: inside a restaurant, or inside a movie theater, on an airplane). Those aren't places you were smoking before.

I agree with the first point. The second will depend on how old you are and where you live. It was only 3 years ago that smoking was banned in restaurants in SC, USA. While I agree it's rude to block theater views with clouds and puff all over while someone is eating, that's still what many are accustomed to.
