The addictive power of nicotine is such that most of us are hooked LONG before we realize it. I really think that one of the key psychological elements in early addiction is the fact that cigarettes taste so awful. We think, "No WAY *I* could ever get to a point where I NEED this." In that regard, e-cigs may alter nicotine dependency's psychological profile. Blueberry e-juice at 24mg is so freaking great, I just might lower the nic so I can vape it MORE without my ears ringing from nic overdose.
I also think the whole "peer-pressure" thing is a red-herring, especially these days when to smoke cigarettes has a decidedly anti-social impact on smokers. Conversely, EVERYBODY wants to know what strange and wonderful gizmo I'm sucking on.
After one such description, my friends 17 year old son summarized, "So, it's like a yummy high-tech cigarette that might not screw you up as much as the old-fashioned yucky-stinking kind?"
Yup, that's pretty much it.
