As a Tribute to a Master Modder, a Genius at improvisation; and an individual with thought processes, skills, patience, and Virtue rivaled by many - I propose that a dedicated "Sticky Thread" (not just a "Sticky" But a "Sticky/Sub Forum Thread" ) be Created to archive the thoughts, problems, successes, revelations, discussions, and ultimate creations of the ONE AND ONLY -

Post below in support and appreciation of This Initiative,
And in recognition of one fine Lady and Modder:banana:

oh.my.gosh. - you got me blushing here lol.

I hadn’t seen that Disclaimer in over 4 years and truly didn’t remember ever seeing it. It was brought to my attention the other day.

My understanding is that staff is looking into re-wording/updating the Disclaimer. If, and when, that happens I'll be back.

I have a great fondness for this modding forum here at ECF - it's been my modding home for about 4 years now. The camaraderie, the sharing, the caring, the pats on the back kudos great job... has been super inspiring for all of us enabling all of us to create these awesome mods.

Ya'll know I love love love to help other modders and share my modding knowledge as well as tutorials, but since “ECF does not approve or condone the use of mods or the practice of modding” as stated in the disclaimer and now that I am aware of it, I cannot continue to help others at ECF as I would be doing something ECF does not approve or condone. I respect ECF's opinion to go that route if they choose, but it leaves me no alternative but to abide by that. I totally understand CYA - but if someone was doing something on my mamumods forum that I didn't approve or condone, it wouldn't be happening. And because I feel this way, I couldn't possibly impose something on ECF that I wouldn't allow to happen on my forum if I didn't approve of it.

Additionally, there is potentially harmful misinformation and extremely outdated information in that disclaimer that needs updated/revised.

In the meantime - I'm working on another stealthy size DNA20D mod - aluminum case only 2" tall - teeny tiny tiny this one is.

I would just repeat a slightly modified version of what mamu said from my view:

I have a great fondness for this modding forum here at ECF - it's been my modding home for many years now. The camaraderie, the sharing, the caring, the pats on the back kudos great job... has been super inspiring for all of us enabling all of us to create these awesome mods.

I fully understand ECF's desire to CYA, and I also believe the modders who have graciously offered their experiences and designs also require that the CYA also applies to them. The modders who offer help and tutorials, and etc. have no control over what others will do with the information they leave here, nor should there be any liability attached.

In all my years of modding and contact with ECf I do not recall any injuries or worse as a result of information in the modding forums.

Below is a part of the disclaimer. I hope that any revision to the current version will include a disclaimer also for the modders protection who post here.

Disclaimer
Any information contained in this Forum is acted on at the user's own risk. ECF cannot be held responsible for individuals causing injury or even death to themselves or others by following information in this Forum.

There is a "chill" in the modders forum that I hope can be relieved. Modders have had a huge impact on the evolution of safer devices over the years and have really been in the fore-front of applying new technology.

I don't get it....vaping Is in its "wild west" stages of development.

It's because of all of the Veteran Modders on the site (Mamu, Retird etc) that I know how to protect myself, my batteries and my mods.

It is because of you guys and gals that I know where to look for potential problems and how I can build the safest possible mod using safety that is probably above and beyond what is needed.

I want to thank Mamu, and Retird for their contributions (and Bap for kicking me in the ....). You all have inspired me to try my hand at modding, and have saved me many many hours of research and trial & error. You have highlighted many safety aspects that might easily have been overlooked.

I understand both sides of the dilemma here. I hope a reasonable compromise can be reached. I did see that disclaimer a long time ago, but I blew it off as legal CYA, it didnt even slow me down. However, I can also see where a skilled modder who shares valuable safe information could take offense.

Just think where the craft would be without the wisdom of these experienced modders????????

It was a post by Mamu - something about how a few years back she knew nothing about volts, amps, soldering, case work - that provided me with the inspiration to create my ADNA20 mod. It would be a sad day indeed if the disclaimer were to discourage the further involvement of Mamu or any of the other great modders around here. The fact great mods have appeared is proof that innovation can triumph.

I only started wearing my seatbelt after many warnings and then several tickets, if I wasn't afraid of getting a ticket every time I get behind the wheel I would never wear my seatbelt. of course not the best analogy, but point being, if no one is telling you to stop why stop? that legalese banner is just that, a disclaimer, like warning coffee is hot, it's there to protect the site, if they really wanted to squash all forms of modding do you really think that is how they'd do it?

by all means revisit the diclaimer . like only use double protected batterys ! try that in your dna20 mod. safty first but include the latest technogely . before rewriting and turning it over to a lawyer why not ask the top dozen or so of modders for input ?
what frightens me more is when I hear coments like ' for law makers to get their act together ' to to regulate e cigs for all of our benefit !!
whaooo that styfels innovation . for safty do not use your car battery booster to charge the lipo battery.or stick your finger in the light socket but wet it first to test what is pos or neg mabe it is ac ?or test your car battery with a long screw driver to see if it has juce across the terminals. some people should not be modding .
do use an ohm meter to test every part ...use a pt fuse at the pos or neg side of the battery.that helps if the board goes south...when soldering batterys with fragile tabs stabilize with epoxy before handling ...for the first use of that little charger board mesure the battery voltage when cut off ocures ...mesure again when fully charged ...but don't waite for the green lite mesure inbetween ...check for sharp edges in your box to ..some batts puncture easy !!. next thing use the dna20! it will tell you whats wrong and ceep you out of trouble for most ...soooo mamu ceep on modding lerned so much from all your threads how to and safty thanks ..rolf
