WHY do we need the new ATE thread? I've always had all my questions answered on the forum by other users. I don't think anyone is an expert if you can even BE an expert on e cigs. They haven't been around long enough and everyone uses them differently with different equipment and juices etc.....
Kinda like being an EXPERT vegetarian...lol....I don't consider myself an expert and I have been a vegetarian for 32 years....

Yep, that's a good question. The reason is that some more experienced older members had complained for some time that newcomers' questions were being answered wrongly - and sometimes dangerously - by other relatively-inexperienced members. And apparently this situation was getting worse.

We discussed various options, and there are various plans in the pipeline to solve this problem. But the trouble is that all the methods we thought of are going to take a while to implement.

Luckily Frogbmth, an experienced member, had an excellent idea: an Ask the Experts board where people could get an answer that has a much better chance of being both safe and correct.

Problem solved!

Now we've just got the arguments between all the experts to resolve... :)

That's not my department, luckily SJ will have that job. I think it's fair to say that all will argue about his choice, but how can such a task be free of controvery?

I'd guess he will either need some people with encyclopaedic knowledge and years of experience - or specialists in each topic that might be covered. Totting it up, you'd probably need a lawyer, a doctor, a pharmacist, a chemist, and experts on e-juice, mods, each format of e-cigarette, regulatory issues in various countries, politics and campaigning...... Where to stop?

It depends on what sort of questions get asked. The bulk of them might be technical, so people with long experience of many different makes, models and components would be useful.

But who knows at this stage. It's all just starting. Ask me again in a year, I'll give you a much better answer :)
