It doesn't sound any different from my SnowWolf. I can't "manually" change between power and temperature modes, but since it always autodetects the correct mode I don't see why I would want to. I can manually switch between power and temperature settings any time I want. Not sure what the "locking" feature is or why I would want it. It could easily be talking about the auto-locking the mod does if left idle too long. Since they don't give any actual technical explanation regarding these features I'm not convinced there is any real difference in the chip at all.
As for building and upgrading PCs go, I've been doing that since the 386 days in the early 1990s. My current build is a $2,700 beast of a PC. Water cooled CPU, dual water cooled GPUs, 16GB of RAM, 1TB of SSD space and 4TB of HDD space, it's ridiculously powerful. I've got over $1,000 invested in the video cards alone. Fortunately I can "justify" this all to my wife by reminding her that building and maintaining high end computer systems and networks has been my career for the past 20 years and I need to stay on top of the latest technology.
