I started with an Atlantis 2 weeks ago, now learning to build on a Lemo. Fun stuff, sometimes frustrating. I need a needle syringe so I can suck out all the juice in the Lemo when something has gone wrong --which is pretty often as I'm on my 2nd/3rd functional build (1st time a coil issue, and then wicking issue).

The Atlantis is really easy to fill, and vape in general. I think it's good to set a standard for my builds, as I can tell when something is off by comparison. The worst thing are the cartridges, as I go through one a day. I think maybe due to chain vaping at too high wattage, even the 20-30w the coil is rated for. At 10w I think the coil will last a lot longer for me which is what I'm currently experimenting with.

Overall, I went from 40 cigs a day to 0-3 within a couple of days. The Atlantis has been satisfying aside from sub-ohm liquid cost and cartridge cost. A blue cig, or something similar just wouldn't cut it for me.

As far as total cost of the Atlantis + mod, it's really cheap to start. I went with a Cloudpor T6, about $90, plus the Atlantis at $30 or so. Considering costs of smoking 2 packs a day at $11/ea, starting up was about the same cost as smoking for a week. Also, learning incredibly fast. I'm still saving over smoking, and have moved on to the Lemo to save even more. My next step will be DIY juice. At that point I can save a ton of money, which will make me even happier I quit smoking.

Congrats! We're in the same boat there!

For me personally if you gave me an aspire atlantis on my first day vaping I would have never done it. I use it now and I love it don't get me wrong, but there is a adjustment needed for vaping, I feel egos and such provide a nice middle step.
I vaped for over a year went back to smoking for a couple months and back to vaping, and when I tried to get back into vaping my builds, and tanks I liked when I stopped were tearing me apart when I started again. I had to step back a lot to accustom myself to the feel of the vapor etc. all over again.
The throat hit, the amount of flavor and vapor can be overwhelming to new vapers. The odds are you'll probably accumulate a lot of stuff god knows I have a whole shelf and multiple containers to prove it, but each one had a role. I started on an ego when I was ready i went to itaste vv v3, then to the mvp 2, then a couple mechs, and some dna devices etc. Same with tanks started on ce4s went to an evod, protank, aerotank, nautilus, verticle coils, atlantis. I also accumulated a lot of rebuildables I dont consider any of them a waste of money at all, if I total up what Ive spent on mods, tanks, coils, supplies, juice, rbas etc I still spent less than I did when I smoked and I feel a lot better.

Nobody can tell you what your comfort level will be. Some people will say what I just said is crap, some will agree, I would personally recommend starting with a vv/vw device such as an istick they are cheap, simple to use but still offer some growing room, theres other options as well. I hope this helps some, Im sorry its a little long winded.

I'm coming into this with nowhere as much experience as most members here, but I think the Atlantis paired with a good mini VV/VW mod is great for a beginner as you can adjust the airflow from super suck to max air, add a VV/VW and you have mega control over flavors and adjusting for the sweet spot in a mix. I like it so much better than my Aspire super suck BVC on an ego.

As someone that has just gotten their first RBA/RTA, the Sub Tank, but has been vaping for almost a year now, I would not recommend any tank as their first setup except for one of the cheap egos, which I do agree, are garbage. My first setup was a TOHB on a crappy Nemesis clone that an 18650 doesn't even fit into correctly. I have since moved to a Pegasus with a darkhorse and it's a great setup with lots of options, but watch out because it is easy to spend your juice on a device like that.

My question to you folks is, would you ever recommend this setup for someone who has never vaped before?

No. Doing so would be doing them a disservice while assuaging the ego of the person pushing them towards it. It doesn't mean they don't mean well, and sometimes it's just enthusiasm for something they like, but that doesn't change what it is.

Ok, this is my first thread (although I have popped in on a few others).
I'm currently quite happy with my eGo using Aspire BDC clearomisers and am not planning on upgrading in the near future. On another forum I saw someone asking about ways to stop smoking and a few people suggested switching to ecigs with various setups. One person was insisting that the Aspire Atlantis with the Sub Ohm battery was perfectly fine for a newbie and that the starter sets being sold are garbage.

Their actual statement was:

Nope. For a variety of reasons--too many to list here.

If you're happy with your current setup, use it and enjoy! If you're not, there are many other tanks and batteries that you can try without investing in a sub-ohm capable battery and a sub-ohm tank (made with controversial filler). :)

Happy vaping!

Hello - This is also my first post, and while I support the idea that upgrading is inevitable, my two cents :2c:, not everyone shares this opinion. We all have our own ideas and priorities. My vaping journey began with the e-roll, and I haven't smoked an analog since the 2nd of July 2014. I did however upgrade! (Quickly). I read as much as I could to educate myself on the subject, and decided on a vamo 5 with variable power for my first mod. I purchased a kit that included a charger, a cheap c4 cartomiser, and the mod. It didn't take long to decide to change from the c4 to a Nautilus, also made by Aspire. I dropped it a few times and finally broke the glass, and a spring that returns one of the buttons on the mod. I understood that if you want quality, it will cost you. I continued to use the Vamo in it's somewhat injured condition while researching it's replacement.

I asked Santa for a new Provari 3 this past Christmas, and since I had been a good boy :p, he came through for me. If the truth be known, I am just a spoiled husband with a generous wife. This is not saying that I don't believe in the Père Noël. I am now vaping the provari with the above mentioned Nautilus, (new glass of course). The provari was a costly investment which is a constant reminder to treat it as such. I don't even put it in my the same pocket as my keys. Knock on wood, I haven't even had a close call on dropping it. I relate this to driving a cheap used car vs. a new expensive sports car. We make sure we don't get any scratches or dents.

I love my setup, and believe I have made what I consider to be an very good, albeit informed, decision. Good luck with your vaping experience. I sincerely hope it works out to your satisfaction.
