Turn that other "short top" into a 2nd Atlantis...

The 5ml top sure makes the old shorties look small, eh?
For a very thorough clean, some here will soak in vodka. Then rinse and dry well...
One huge note here on those coils... let them dry before using them! If you try to use wet after washing and forget to prime it you will burn it up! <-- Don't ask me how I know! I am rotating coils now. 2 are drying while another is vaping!
I have found that it isn't that hard to gently remove the stock coils from the atomizer head, clean them and re-wick with flat ... cotton. I cut a strip the same height as the original wicking material, then thin it by tearing in half, wrap twice fairly tightly, then reinsert coil, wet wick thoroughly, and vape.
Easy, although you may have to play with a few to get the airflow right! Too much cotton and youll have a tight draw, too little and it'll be an easy draw with possibility for splash back!
Another thought... I have noticed with larger hits that upon exhale my moustache gets wet... never experienced this with any other vape tank.
SO... perhaps the extra juice is just highly concentrated vapor because the Atlantis is that good?
OR???
Question: how do I clean the coil? I've read about soaking it in warm water and then drying it out but the cleaned coil will only last for 2 days or so..
I havent tried it yet though...
Yeah Me too, the sweet spot for wattage and airflow varies on the juices I use..
Just curious, why do you do a couple dry pulls? Sounds like that would risk burning the cotton if you're only priming the coil and not also completely priming the cotton.
I just put as many drops as needed from the top on the cotton around the coils until I see the cotton change colors at the 4 juice ports at the sides of the head, fill the tank, wait a minute or 2, then vape. Same way PBusardo does it.
If you want cotton on your coils, search for eLeaf Melo coils... They're interchangeable Eleaf Melo Sub Ohm Coils
On the Nautilus, I put paper inside the coil, sticking out, and wrap the whole thing in paper towels. The best thing is to have 3 coils in rotation, while you're using one, the other is soaking and the other is drying. Most of the days I rotate every 15 ml of liquid or so, that means every other day. Have 2 attys, 6 coils, that means plenty of drying time for each coil.
Just curious if you have actually tried these Melo coils on an Atlantis? There are a few youtube reviews that have stated while they look identical they are actually different threading and are not interchangeable!
I'd also like to know if anyone's actually tried them and how they compare to the aspires. I must say I'm on my 6th Atlantis coil without a single dud yet (knock on wood). I never had very good luck with the Nautilus coils, not even the bvc's. Seems maybe aspire upped their game on these maybe?
Edit... Check out this review of the melo. She actually uses an Atlantis coil in the review. In the end she thinks the Atlantis coils are better.

Well I'll be dammed!
2-3 other vids I watched said they were different threads!
I am curious why she prefers the Aspire coils. I am very concerned about their usage of "ceramic paper" as they call it. Silica by any other name.
Silica is a health hazard, but at least Aspire is looking into a new redesigned all cotton coil!

Seriously???I prefer silica any time over cotton.

?????????????
I'll be using my new Sub tank mini almost exclusively once it arrives. Unless I'm using my own home re-wicked Atlantis coils, I'll wait until Aspire gets rid of the "ceramic paper" before I use stock Aspire coils again!
Seriously. Look at my join date. You're not sanding anything here, silica is perfectly safe. The safest way to vape is not vape at all, so, your choice. I prefer silica over cotton, organic or not.
A. Stainless Steel screen: keeps wicking in it’s casing, and helps prevent excess e-liquid from going into air chamber.
B. Kanthal heating coil from USA
C. Organic cotton: superior wicking to the coil
D. Aspire Ceramic paper: specially designed as a capillary medium to feed the cotton wick more efficiently.
E. Organic cotton: superior wicking to the Ceramic paper which holds the e-liquid for wicking to the cotton/coil area
The design of the Atlantis coil was done to maximize proficiency of e-liquid delivery and vaporization along with optimum use of materials for their specific duty.
The e-liquid is first absorbed by a cotton layer from the tank, which is then absorbed by the Patented Aspire Ceramic paper, which is then passed onto the cotton layer to the heating coil. Organic cotton is a great wicking material, but does not contain the capillary capacity that our Ceramic Paper has from our research. The Ceramic Paper is actually incased in the organic cotton as a high capacity holding area for the cotton to draw from so it can deliver e-liquid to the coil. This design is proficient in keeping all the materials saturated at sub ohm, which increases the life of the atomizer.
"sanding" anything?
It's not silica wick or thread, its a paper thin layer of silica, Aspire calls it ceramic paper, that could breakdown into small fibers and venture into the airway. Aspire uses a majority of cotton in this head. But the fact is it is a known health risk. Aspire is also rumored to be switching to an all cotton coil to avoid the potential health risks and respond to customers desires.
Here is the current coil:

Materials used per Aspire:
So according to the diagram the "ceramic paper" is directly against the coil and prone to burning.
So?
If the material is wet, doubtfully it'll flake. Do the test yourself, if you need to.
I've been vaping on silica in everything for 5 years. No silicosis signs whatsoever. You just started. Learn from our experience, silica is safe.
Ps: my father was a materials professor at college, we both are engeneers speciallized in plastics. We tested everything thoroughly in our lab. It's safe. Take my word for it. It's safer than cotton.
