Hello all... so i picked up this aspire glassomiser a about 3 weeks ago. it doesnt need to be re coiled yet but i was watching a video and the guy explained that the legs of each coil shouldnt touch...i get that...

but! he didnt mention if its either ok or not ok if the top of the lower coil and the bottom of the upper coil could touch.

if they did would that create a hotspot? short out? or does it not matter?

thanks!

I use the Aspire BDC coils on both an Aspire Pyrex BDC, and my pro tank2 (with the help of an adapter)...

I would imagine that having your 2 coils inside the unit touching each other would NOT be a good thing, but I might be wrong.

Props on attempting to rebuild the aspire bdc coil. I opened one up after watching the Pbusardo video where he reviews (and opens up) the aspire bdc, and the 2 coils are in a REALLY, REALLY small, tight space. Trying to rebuild the coils seems like more trouble than it would be worth for me!

Sorry about posting in the wrong section.

And i believe it was Rip Trippers video that i watched. He also mentioned that the stock coils in his aspires were all kind of junky. mine... not so much it seems.

and wow... i never thought of using a aspire coil on another tank. when this tank runs dry ill give it a shot in my mini protank or my gs-h2. Thanks for that idea!!

Ya, you do NOT want the two coils touching. If they touch or the legs touch it will create a short. I've been pulling my hair out trying to get a good dual coil build in these things with micro coils using 32ga Kanthal and cotton. Finally had some success today but the two coils do need to be insulated from each other somehow. There is very little room to stuff two coils in the barrell of those heads so you need to wrap some pretty tight micro coils with 32ga. wire if you're considering dual coils. You might start out recoiling them with a single coil and 28ga Kanthal to get the hang of putting the heads together it's seriously fiddly. Even a really good single micro coil with cotton out performs the stock heads in flavor and produce just as much if not more vapor. The dual coil build I put together today blows the stock heads out of the water so its worth doing but Rip Tripper makes it look easy. It's the deep end of the pool. I followed his build and ran into serious trouble with the coils shorting out on each other. Check out PaulBHC's Blog above he helped me out quite a bit and here's a link to the thread I posted with the issues I ran into.
