I've searched ECF and Ggogled "Aspire BVC Rubber Taste" without success. The results I have found refer to a rubber, plastic, burned taste. There is no burned taste involved. I can inhale on the BVC before it is placed into a K1 or CE5 and taste the rubber. There was a similar situation previously but I could vape half a tank and the problem resolved itself for as long as the coil lasted. This time vaping a full tank makes little if any difference. They still taste the way Academy Sports shoe department smells. I did rinse each coil in near boiling water in an attempt to remove any protective oil. No luck. Increasing the voltage just makes it more noticeable. Contacting the vendor seems like a good idea except I ordered a lot of stuff during the holiday sales and have no idea where this particular box of coils was purchased.

Any thoughts or suggestions on eliminating this rubbery taste is appreciated.

Is it just with coils from a single box though? I always found that the coils that came with a tank were great, but even authentic replacements were hit or miss. That's one reason I went over to rebuildables.

If you get the taste just from breathing through the coil, that seems to eliminate problems with the tank. My only suggestion then is to try another box. Sorry.

Same issue here.

Just received a new K1 BVC. Washed the clearo out, made sure the coil
was properly soaked, started at a low voltage and I'm getting that rubber
band kind of flavor. Juice is 50/50 and the coil is 1.8ohm (It came with
the clearo).

Surprised that you washed out the coil beforehand and are experiencing
this rubber nastiness.

Bleeecchhh!

Maybe the rubber/silicon insert at the top of the coil is coming into contact with
the heated coil wire?.

Update:

Just opened up a new pack of coils. The white rubber ring/gasket at the bottom of
the coils reek and smell like the rubbery taste I'm experiencing. Wondering if a cleaning
with or soak in Propylene Glycol might help.

Yes, it is only the one box. Swapped out coils and they are fine. I sometimes think of rebuildables but I don't think my vision is good enough. I could probably wrap the coils. Getting it attached and the cotton would be a real challenge.

I'm sorry it is happening to you too. Maybe the vendor would do a swap. If I knew where these came from I'd give it a try

I didn't try PG. Cinnamon. butterscotch and licorice will not hide the taste. Clove covers up a lot of it but not enough to vape for any length of time.

Damn, this sucks, hope you can get to the bottom of it.

Thanks. It gets worse. One box of coils that I purchased a few weeks ago clog in 2-3 days no matter which juice I use. It is my fault. I was in a hurry. Got careless. Didn't follow the check out the vendor rules. The coils that clog had been checked on aspireecig.com 841 times. Not authentic.

I buy pre-made coils with wicks from fasttech (FastTech - Gadgets and Electronics) to rebuild my Kanger coils.
They also sell pre-made coils that can be used with RBA's etc. Inexpensive and makes things easier.

My vendors are in China, so not worth my time/money doing a return.

My stinky coil came pre-installed in my Aspire K1. I pulled another coil from a second K1 I purchased, rinsed it, cleaned it with PG and it's a bit better, but that odd rubber flavor is still present.

I think I'll open one of the 5-packs I bought tomorrow and will see what they are like.

Stinky Aspire coils seem to be a widespread problem.

at what wattage and what kind of eliquid are you vaping on?

5 watts, 3 volts, That is iStick watts and volts. Real world would be around 1.1 volts higher. The liquids were butterscotch. cinnamon roll and licorice. i have been vaping the same brand and flavors for several months. Licorice that tastes like rubber is something I may never forget. The problem is with the coils as the rubber can be tasted outside the clearos. Other boxes of Aspire coils that I have used and currently have are fine. Can't help wondering what the Chinese put in these. It is not a subtle taste or smell. In a factory full of them they knew.

Thanks to everyone who has tried to help. It is appreciated.

The problem is the white rubber grommet at the bottom. It stinks period and has nothing
to do with voltage.

The two coils that came with my K1's were horrible even at a measly 3v-3.7v on an EGO.
Equally disgusting at the lowest settings on an iStick.

The coil I pulled out of a new pack of 5 is much better, but stills has a mild stinky rubber
smell and doesn't taste that great. Why they are not using silicon instead is beyond me.

FYI - The Nautilus coils don't have the same rubber grommet and thus no similar complaints.

I'm going to remove the remaining coils from my 2 5-packs, let them air out and then rinse
and let them dry out before using them.

Well vaping "gromit" maybe better than vaping "fiberglass."
