Aspire ET-S with BVC, did I get a faulty one?

I got a starter kit from a local B+M consisting of an Aspire ET-S top with a new-type BVC coil fitted, plus a KangerTech Evod 1000mAH battery, and I was getting on pretty well with it.

I decided to go back to the same shop for another ET-S to make it easier to switch liquids - but the second one I got, from the same shop, seems not to be so good at its job. Vapour output seems to drop rapidly after only a couple of puffs, there's a lot of "gurgling" sound, and it has leaked a fairly big amount of liquid down in to the connector top of the battery a couple of times (even after I tightened up the fit of the coil head in to the lower part of the assembly). Also, its air holes in the side seem a lot smaller than on my original one. This is my first setup so I'm not 100% sure what's "normal" and not.

The new one is the silver one on the left and seems to have issues, the black one on the right is the original one I got and it seems to be doing the right things as far as I can tell.

Is this much variation between what should be identical items normal, or would I be right to describe the new silver one as faulty and take it back to the shop for refund / replace?

(Or would it be worth trying a new coil in it, even though I haven't had much through that new coil, in case the coil is crap? I do have spares of the BVC coils, and have replaced the one in my original black ETS already.)

My answer to both of these questions is yes. :) Our hobby involves a lot of little $6 pieces of metal that are pumped out of a factory literally by the boat load, so you're not going to get A+ quality control. With that said, a store sold you a product that doesn't work well, so it's certainly worth a shot at getting a replacement or refund.

P.S. This is my 666th post so maybe you shouldn't trust me!

The air holes seem to come in two sizes, I've had some with smaller some with bigger, but I drill mine out anyway, I have had some flooding problems but not into the battery top, normally just the coil and that's been with specific juice, try a fresh coil and if the problem persists try a different juice in it

try a fresh coil

Thanks for the reassurance that the air holes are just a bit variable. I tried a brand new coil in it and it's now working at full capacity. The draw is a little tighter due to the smaller airholes, but it's now just "different" rather than being "useless".

Now I'm just down one coil, rather than having a whole useless clearo, it would be a huge waste of my time to go back to the shop.
