I have an Aspire Natilus tank on a ProVari with the beauty ring. I know nothing about how to work it other then pushing the button and vaping. Oh and how to change the PU... Whatever that stands for. My question is, for over a year now I have been vaping and mine always tastes burnt, it's starting to piss me off and I don't know what to do, is it me? Is my tank broken? My friends said my coils are 1.8 (again... Wth does that even mean) but she said they are running at 2.2.... Can someone please help me. I am so confused!

if it tastes burnt turn down your wattage until it stops tasting burned -- you can cool it down by using higher ohm coils -- like your friend said they are using 2.2 -- and you are using 1.8 -- the lower that number the more likely you are going to get a dry/burny hit.

you could also try thinner juice so it can feed quicker -- thicker juice (higher VG%) is harder to feed in to the coil -- so again more likely to burn...

PU is power up / PD is power down, sounds like you need to turn down the voltage.
When it shows PU or PD wait a second or two then the display will show numbers, press the fire button while the numbers are present to adjust voltage up or down.
How long have you been using the same head? ( the thing that is replaceable by removing from base with the wicking material & coil inside). Heads should be changed occasionally, when vapor production reduces or you get odd off funky or burnt tastes.

Always prime a new unused head by dripping drops into the head on top of the screen until the wicking material is fully saturated. Then install in base fill tank and thread together. Over tightening the tank to base can cause wicking problems, snug enough to prevent leaking is usually tight enough.
Then go to PD and turn it down a little (around 3.7 - 4.1ish) to prevent scorching the new head.
Take a few un powered primer puffs you should see a few bubbles rise from the bottom. You can cover the air hole with a finger while doing this if necessary.
Take a dozen or so vapes to make sure it is wicking sufficiently to prevent burning then slowly increase power using PU to where it tastes best to you, if you get a hint of burnt taste turn it down using PD.

Dark or colored and especially sweet juices tend to clog wicking material & gunk coils rapidly, this causes reduced wicking ability & off funky or burnt tastes ( reduced head life).

I notice my Nautilus coils start reading a higher ohm when they get gunked up. Try replacing the coil (with Nautilus BVC 1.8 ohm coils), make certain you get it primed by taking a couple draws with it off the battery and let it sit for about 5 minutes. I agree with Elvis, you may be overpowering it, start low and work your way up.

Here you go -- it will start at the top if you go below 3.3 -- I see Elvis up above also gave some info on this -- hopefully this is easier to understand? I hate single button devices ;)

And aparently no wattage -- what you are adjusting here is voltage -- same effect -- but with voltage you will have to adjust with every coil ohm change...

The pu is at 3.8 I changed the coil today (bvc 1.8), I cleaned it from top to bottom and still is tastes like poo.. I don't know what the watts are (pu?) and I don't know which is the voltage... I am so lost lol

What shows in either the PU or PD menu is the voltage going to the head.
Did you properly prime the coil as recommended in my previous post?
Are they authentic aspire replacement heads verified via the scratch of security # on the package entered into their site?
Are you over tightening the base to tank? this can cause wicking issues that will cause burnt tastes.

With a 1.8 coil what should I have my PU and my PD set too? I just want my Apple flavor back :/

There is no best or optimal setting, it is a matter of personal preference / what settings taste best to you.
You shouldn't have any problems with burnt tastes at 3.8v if the head was primed before use.

Black stuff is burnt / caramelized flavorings / coil gunk.
What pg/vg ratio is your juice?
High vg can cause slow wicking unless thinned.
Is the juice you use sweet? colored or clear?

IMO, the nautilus is the most reliable best flavor & vapor non sub ohm clearomizer available.

Darker sweeter juices will gunk up a coil a lot faster than clear ones. Just like Elvis said, the Nautilus is the top of the line before sub ohm. It's not a good tank it's a great one. (I own 4) It's been known for people to get bad coils, it does happen. Another thing could be the accuracy of your mod. If it's not reading correctly and over powering the Mini it will burn up the coils. I'm using my min right now at 13 watts (regulated mod, volts are 5.2). This is about as high as I am comfortable with, any more and I get burnt coils. Each juice has it's own "sweet spot" and I vape at less power often.

Welcome Kasie!

When I put in a new coil, I prime it and let it soak for a bit. Then I start LOW power and slowly work my way up (couple hits, then nudge a bit; couple more hits, nudge a bit.) Your Provari looks like it's variable voltage only. For the 1.8 ohm heads, I would start around 3.8V (ohms + 2volts) and nudge up from there.

Side question, I'm hoping you have Aspire NAUTILUS BVCs? I didn't think the "standard" ones would work....

P.S. if you didn't replace juice after a burnt coil, the juice may be tainted too - clean tank, fresh juice, hopefully helps

The Provari 2.5 (the one you have according to the picture) allows you to set the voltage to 2.9 volts up to 6 volts. As a general rule, set the voltage to ohms + 2 volts, then experiment up and down from that setting to find the best flavor. ohms + 2 volts simply means if you have a 2.0 ohm coil, set the voltage to 4 volts. Start a 1.8 ohm coil at 3.8 volts. After you put juice on the wick (before putting it in the tank), after you put it in the tank take a couple of priming puffs without pressing the fire button. If you get a dry hit, try covering the air hole and take several puffs (again, not pressing the fire button). This should help by drawing in more eliquid and getting the coil wet.

You may find you like the flavor at a lower voltage than the +2 volts setting. That will also help prevent dry hits and juice burning.

Do not dry burn anything that has a cotton wick.

But I did notice that when I replaced the coil today, the old one had back stuff on it, ideas on what that is?

The black stuff on the coils is carbonized ejuice.

My juice is clear, I put the power at 3.8, and now I replaced the coil for the 2nd. Time today, but this time with the 1.6... My Apple flavor is back, and I hope it lasts.

Yes coils are the aspire brand. And I do love my tank and the love of it, I just wish it was consistent in its vape flavor. I'm just going to chalk it up to bad coils??

Thank you guys soooo much for your help!
