I started vaping 4 years ago, and my evolution probably mirrors a lot of your experiences: from cigarette style units to Egos to my current setup, which is an istick 20W with a Nautilus tank. I am very happy with the Istick, great form factor/ergos, and great battery life. I have a love-hate relationship with the Nautilus, however, as the flavor is spot on BUT the tank is constantly gurgling. The smaller Aspire tanks have no issues, I don't understand why they wouldn't incorporate some kind of silicone gasket in their Nautilus tanks...but alas, they don't.

I've tried the Smok Bottom Coil 6ml tank, and it was awful (flavor wise). It also leaked.

I vape 1.6 - 1.8 coils, and really love the BVC head designs as there is no possibility of leaking. The gurgling on the Nautilus, however, is driving me insane.

I vape a 50-50 juice.

I'm looking for a large capacity tank (5ml+), leak-proof (like the BVC head design with no hole), and does not gurgle. Doesn't need to be sub-ohm.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

What wattage do you vape at?

I use the Nautilus and also use 50/50 mixes and I have found that it gurgles if the power is too low. Usually around 12W or lower it gurgles. However, crank up the wattage and the gurgling goes away. I now tend to vape my Nautilus around 19W. At 19W it never gurgles, leaks, nor gives a dry hit. If you're down around 12W or less try bumping the wattage up to 15W and see if it's better. If you're not getting any burnt taste then go ahead and push it even higher. Keep doing that 1W at a time until you start to get a hint of burnt taste and then back it down 1-2W.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Glad to have you here!:)

I have a couple of Nautilus (with the BVC's), using 50/50 juice and have no problems. Here are a couple things you can try.

To fix a flooded/gurgling atomizer take your tank off the battery and blow through the mouthpiece (with a paper towel under it or cover the airflow hole). This will drain the extra eliquid.

When you inhale, take a long smooth draw vs a short sharp draw. This will prevent extra eliquid from being pulled into your coils and flooding it. Inhalation technique with an e-cigarette

Whenever you first sense that your atomizer is beginning to flood try this:
1. Open up the airflow so when you take a hit you are not pulling in as much juice into your coils.
2. Raise your voltage or wattage if your battery allows you to do this. This will vaporize more eliquid.
3. Tip your battery up (and take a few hits). By tipping it up you will prevent more eliquid from being fed into the coils.

Give one or all of these a try.:)

Thank you for the quick response!

Sadly, I vape in the 6W range

If I feel adventurous (or when the battery is <50%), I might dial it up to 7W.

6-6.5W is giving me the perfect throat hit with my juice (50/50 neutral tobacco).

The other thing is...I go on long range fishing trips often, so 12-18 hours on a boat I need to conserve battery. I suspect you're going to tell me that vaping at the low wattage I do there's no way to avoid gurgling, at least not with the Nautilus. Hence my quest to find a tank design that minimizes flooding. As mentioned, the small Ego threaded Aspire BVC tanks uses a gasket, and the gurgling is almost a non-issue. I could use those instead, but then I'll be refilling them constantly...and I don't know if you've ever tried to refill a tank in 10 ft seas but it's not pretty.

Thank you for the response.

I generally coil up a thin strip of paper towel and stick it down the center post to soak up excess juice when my Nautilus starts to gurgle. I'll try your suggestions as well. I took a look at the base of the Nautilus and there is a lot of liquid condensation in there, I guess this is all contributing to the flooding situation.

You could go with the aspire et-s bvc if you wanna use that little power, or upgrade your battery, or get a second battery, or get a mobile charger battery... Solar charger? Lol

But to avoid the gurgle you're gonna have to up the power. The Nautilus wicks really well, so you're bringing juice in but not burning it. No low power tank is going to perform better than the Nautilus, so you'll be downgrading, unless you upgrade the battery and keep the 20w as a spare.
