So I just landed in the Sea-Tac airport after a 2 hour flight and as I went to grab my vape out of my back pack I began to smell a very intense lemon scent. Well turns out that my tank leaked at some point and now I have 4ml of lemonade liquid everywhere.

My real question is what happened. Throughout the flight it was laying laterally in my back pack and when I grabbed it the liquid was seeping out of the open air flow hole. I removed the tank and noticed that there was also liquid on the top of the beauty cap on my Provari. After cleaning everything I put the tank back on and attempted to hit it but I got quite a bit of liquid in my mouth when i inhaled. Did i break my tank or is it from not being upright? What should I do now, I'm sitting in the airport and will be for the next couple of hours.

It'll work fine, once you clean everything. Just remember that juice in a tank uses pressure to keep the juice from exiting out of the air holes, out of the 510 connectors on some of them, etc. In a pressurized plane, the pressure builds up in the tank, and if there are any openings, out comes your juice!

Try to keep your juices in tightly seals bottles, and your tanks empty, then simply fill 'em up once you get off of the plane. If you want to stealth vape, I'd strongly suggest wrapping your tanks in paper towels, because juice WILL be coming out of it!

(Don't feel bad... I learned the hard way myself, and had to finish a 6 hour flight with a wet spot on my shirt!)

By the way... I stealth vape in the bathroom of a plane all of the time, blowing the vapor into a slightly damp paper towel! Never had a problem.... if it's a long flight, just a suggestion.

Have a good flight!

This is very good info, I've had tanks leak on me during long flights. X2 on that stealth vape technique, I always carry my eGo and aerotank and do the same thing on a towel, to avoid any unfriendly looks when I exit the loo.

As everyone has said it's all about the pressure. On any tank the exit point is going to be where air enters and passes over the coil. Noodles to say on bottom coil things like an Aspire or Kanger BCC this is a problem in their usual position. You need to turn BCC devices upside down to minimize the risk. Top coil devices like CE4's or ViVi Nova - upright in their regular position. I wouldn't do a filled carto tank at all. If pressure forces enough liquid into the carto, above the level of the filler and vent tube, it could come out either end.

Again, this only minimizes the risk. Wicks will still contain liquid and air pressure can still push liquid out of that as well. The only 100% "safe" tank during flight travel is an empty one. Stored in a pill bottle.

If you have a small tank, and can find an empty aspirin bottle, or a prescription bottle that's empty, and that seals air tight, you can put the tank in the empty bottle, and close it, and you're juice won't come out. (If the bottle is air tight, pressure within the bottle won't build up... ergo, your juice won't be pushed out!)

The problem is that most tanks are fairly large, and won't fit into an air tight bottle, even with the drip tip removed. BUT... if you can find an air tight bottle that your tank will fit in, simply carry it in that, remove it when you want to vape, then put it back in while on the plane!

It's funny how we don't really think about the fact that a plane is pressurized... until we're reminded!

Flip the tank upside down and blow through the drip tip. Have napkin ready by the airhole. Set it to the biggest airhole before you blow. This should clear the juice out. First couple of puffs leave it on the biggest airhole

Meant to say blow through the AIRHOLE and the liquid in the center stem and in the coil will blow out through the drip tip...

I am having this same problem minus the airplane. I thought it was just dirty or old heads. After cleaning it will work for some time but eventually it will leak. I decided maybe it was me and not the tank so I bought a brand new one, Same thing happened. Bought a third one yesterday, used it for a couple of pulls and figured I was good. This morning I noticed I was a little lower then I was last night and I blew through the drip tip and juice flowed out the hole.

The first leak was in a car on a warn day different juice.

The second time was normal use after a solid clean and replaced head.

The third leaked without much use.

I really enjoyed the Aspire but after several stained shirts and lost juice I have to throw in the towel.

For the airplane tank, make sure it's not full. I always turn a BCC upside down and loosen the base, then secure it in the seat back or in a loose shirt pocket within a baggie or even a paper towel. Tighten it back up when you land and you're golden.

KingsHand, the new Nautilus mini has a redesigned coil that will also work on the Nautilus. They just were released a few days ago so I don't have one yet, but I'm hoping they'll be better based on a few reviews. I'd hate to have to give up on my Nautilus...that sucker is fabulous when it's working.
