So, I loved my evod so much I decided to upgrade to an aspire nautilus after reading nothing but rave reviews. Unfortunately it has not been so great for me, so far.

Upon filling for the first time, I let it sit for 3-4 mins (instructions state 2 mins), and received one of the driest, nastiest hits I have ever experienced, which left me coughing and nauseas for quite a while. Following that, it only produces minimal vapor and virtually no throat hit. I worked my way up to the full 4.8 volts, and at that level, it produces vapor equivalent to maybe 3.6 volts on my evod. It also seems to heat up very quickly. All of this is regardless of airflow setting.

Taste is great but throat hit and vapor and very, very, VERY unsatisfying. This can't be normal, based on what I have read. Please help!

Also seems to be popping a lot. Tank is full.

EDIT:

Maybe it's just a difference in the vapor... type? With my evod, I was blowing clouds that stuck around for a while, but the taste wasn't nearly as clear. With this, I can tell (now) that I'm producing a fair bit of vapor, but it's vanishing almost immediately. The taste is also very smooth and very clean. And with the nautilus, I barely feel it on the inhale, but if I exhale too quickly, it makes me cough.

Very, very strange. Sorry, I just have no idea if this is as intended or not. Changing the voltage barely seems to have an effect on the vape. With the evod, 0.2 volts could be the difference between burning the juice and getting a good vape. With the nautilus, I barely notice any differences at all at anything at or above 3.6.

EDIT #2:
Vapor production seems better today. Draw is eratic. Way too tight even on the highest airflow settings, other times it seems quite reasonable. Am I using it wrong? Heh.

Consider this solved. I think I was hitting it incorrectly. Changed the way I vape, and this thing is stellar.

Actually, the Nautilus seems to be the biggest letdown around here. It has become a love/hate relationship with users. I don't think you were really hitting it incorrectly. The heads take some hours to "cure", not unlike a new pipe.

Also, some heads just plainly come out bad. Either lousy QC or too complex design —I've taken them apart looking for rebuilding options, they are really sophisticated and depend on a number of factors being just right for that touted "stellar" perfomance. Not something common on ROC products. If they were Japanese or German... <hmmm>

Furthermore, I'm not sure your twist offers enough fine tuning to get the best out of the 1.6Ω head. What rating is the battery? You should need something able to consistently output 7~8.5W for adequate performance. I use them only on an eVic. The 1.8Ω head should be a bit more lenient; I wish there would be 2.0Ω heads available for those of us that don't have huge mods.

I hope this helps a bit.

The Aspire was simply too finicky for my tastes. The coils were more often bad than not and it produced hit or miss vapor. A few days ago I went to the Kangertech Mega and it's simply miles better in my opinion. Coils lasting. Significantly better vapor. Just all around a much more satisfying experience. The only issue is half the tank is covered up by stainless, so it looks like it's getting close to empty, when there's lots of juice left. You just have to turn it upside down and you'll see plenty of juice. Otherwise, it's simply terrific and requires no adjustment to your vaping style to get a good hit. Too bad the Aspire didn't offer the same simplicity.
