Im not going to have time to properly talk about my views on the Nautilus X flavour and I want to spend longer vaping on it first anyway, as its been less than a day so far.

I certainly love everything else about the tank. The drip tip normally stays nice and cool, but I have had about 4 random 'ouch that was a hot one' experiences from it.

I don't know about the flavour. Sometimes I think it is great, sometimes not great at all. The vapour is certainly nowhere near as 'wet' as, for example, the triton 1.8 coils. If I close the airflow off to the tiniest hole then the vapour is probably a bit to dry and 'scratchy' for me. The Cubis with the clapton coil that comes with it is my only comparison to other top-flow tanks, and there are similarities in terms of aspects of the taste that people can't agree on, or that seems a bit rubbish. I'm tempted to say I prefer the good old nautilus BVC coils when used with the Plato to this, but I might change my mind later today.

Interesting experience, especially comparing it to the Plato, which is what I'm using now. What wattage have you been using?

Yeah, it's a tough one...the other video I was referring to was 2 sub ohm people, and they didn't seem thrilled with the flavor either, but I do wonder if it's apples to oranges. I'd like to hear more reviews from a hardcore MTL type person for more relevance.

Out of curiosity, do you have a Cubis? That was the last time I heard lots of talk about flavor, and it seemed to be really hit and miss for various people. Maybe a comparison to it on flavor would be useful.
Sorry don't have a Cubis to compare it to. I'm definitely interested in hearing others opinions as well.

PBusardo's review is up and he seems to like it and doesn't seem to have any issues with flavor. I have one due to arrive tomorrow myself and I'll chime back in with my thoughts as well.

Interesting that he had a little gurgling after refill. I couldnt get mine to gurgle if I wanted to, and I've tried a variety of juices (50/50, 70/30 and 80/20) and filled all the way to the top.

I've now got a silver and a black one (pre-ordered one before I found one in stock somewhere else). Its certainly much harder to see how open the airflow hole is with the black one.

I've decided I like the vapour quality, although I think you have to mess around with the watts quite a bit to get the optimal vape for a particular mood/time of day/throat hit/flavour/temperature. I've gotten some good flavour out of certain juices but I rather muted flavour experience out of others. When I hit the sweet spot its very nice and I can see me using these as all-day tanks. But at other times I still find myself reaching for the plato with nautilus BVC coils in. So I'm very curious to see what others think of the flavour.

Things are sounding more encouraging on this tank. @SteveElbows, it's interesting to read your experience, especially in comparison to the Plato. I'm using the Plato right now and am extremely happy with the performance, so it's a nice reference point. I imagine I'll end up with this tank.

I wish I could do a better job of comparing them. Lack language to describe the vapour quality properly but I will try.

There is certainly no mistaking the two. The plato has a really huge chimney when used with the nautilus coil adaptor. I guess that makes the vapour quite cool and not too wet/saturated. The nautilus x vapour has passed through 2 coils and there isn't much in the way of chimney so the vape comes across as warmer and wetter but not as dense wet as the triton 1.8 coils. I'm really starting to like the nautilus x vapour a lot today, perhaps it works best with certain flavours or maybe the coil has broken in or my perceptions are wobbly!

Someone posted a video on the thread about all tanks that take nautilus coils, and the guy in the video was getting no flavour at all. This didn't shock me because there are some flavour issues going on here that I haven't got to the bottom of yet. I will repost below my second reply in that thread because I'd like to know if it mirrors other peoples experiences and is valid:

One possible explanation is the watts - I don't know what wattage he was using in that video and its early days for my experiences but it seems like I get more flavour in the 19-25w range than the 14-18w range with these nautilus x coils.

Just to add a little more to that:

20.8 watts is where I started to enjoy the taste with a particular flavour last night. I've only risked going beyond the stated max of 22w briefly so far - Im assuming that as with most other aspire coils it is safe or even optimum to go a little beyond the max range, which is why I gave 25w a quick try, but until I have lots of spare coils I don't want to push my luck too much.

I thought that was odd as well, I haven't so much as a hit of a gurgle. I think the reason he said that, if you look at the video, he removes the coil with a full tank (who does that anyway?) then re-installs it while tilting the tank. I honestly think the gurgle he experienced came from him allowing juice to enter the airflow chamber of the coil. Some of these reviewers make me wonder some times, even experienced ones. It was funny how PB said he had trouble gripping the coil to remove it, but of course the tank is full of juice and soaked all over the coil. Gee, I wonder why it would be slippery.....

I've run all types of juices through it from 50 vg to 80vg without any issues. I've also tried all types of flavors and I've been getting really nice flavor, but it does seem more watts dependent, even just a watt or two. It seems like I'm running it with a little less wattage than I would expect it to, maybe that's just me....lol Even an 80vg, vanilla custard, which I expected to like at a bit more wattage, I really like at only 17.5w. You're right about finding the sweet spot for particular flavors.

I was thinking more about Grimm's "first impression" video and wondered if he had even gone through one tank yet. On my first coil it was almost a half tank before it started to taste "broken in", not unusual for pre-made coils. I thought about that, because I think I remember Busardo saying something about when he was breaking in his tank.

I'm having absolutely no leaking, I'm not even getting any condensation seeping out of the airflow hole. I really am liking this tank more and more as I use it.

I have my Freemax Pro for chill sub-ohming, but my Aspire Nautilus is still my go to for daily use because of its economical juice and battery consumption, and good flavor. I am looking for a new MTL set up, and interested in the Nautilus X because of the alleged better flavor and top fill, but how does it compare to the Nautilus (with BVC coils) flavor wise, and compared to the Triton Mini, which I have also heard good things about as an MTL?

P.S. I tried the Triton Mini clapton coils with my Nautilus and it was horrid (hurt my throat and flavor was too sharp for my e-juice, though it was a 30% PG / 70%VG). I am guessing the problem was the limited airflow of the Nautilus.

Interesting the 80 VG worked well with that U shaped coil. I'm also not surprised you can run the wattage a bit lower. Again, that U shape on the coil and chimney does provide more room than you would expect in such a short 2 ml tank.

I figure I'll order one next week. I'm torn over the clear vs. frosted glass. I really like the frosted, but the aspire label etched on does decrease the appeal. Maybe I'll just order a replacement glass in frosted. If I don't like the look, it won't be the first time something ends up unused in the bottom of the drawer.

I cannot honestly say the Nautilus X tastes better than any of the tanks that take classic nautilus BVC coils. The taste is different, and although some may like it I think some will be very unhappy with it. This advice may change, but thats where I'm at right now even though I have gotten flavours I like out of the Nautilus X.

P.S. I tried the Triton Mini clapton coils with my Nautilus and it was horrid (hurt my throat and flavor was too sharp for my e-juice, though it was a 30% PG / 70%VG). I am guessing the problem was the limited airflow of the Nautilus.

I know 3 people at work who initially like the clapton coils but have now gone off them and decided to stick normal BVC coils in their triton minis from now on. I'm kind of in the same boat on that one, I was impressed with the clapton when it first came out but have gone off it massively and probably won't ever buy those coils again, not even for the Plato that has massive airflow if you want it.

I've only had mine for a day now, I think the flavor is pretty decent, I'm using 50/50 12mg liquid in mine. I think it's not quite as good as the 1.8 ohm Triton Mini Clapton coils but it seems on par with the original coils, just produces more vapor for me, that or my airflow isn't as restricted. Maybe I'm missing something but I can't figure out how you would use another drip tip on this because the top just pulls off but not the internal part which is annoying to me because I would like to use a more narrow driptip on it, seems to be the same style they did with the Cleito which was annoying as well, not sure what the point of that is. I do really like the size of it also, it's nice and compact, makes a great combo with the Mini Volt.

Well despite my various concerns about the flavour this tank seems to have usurped my aspire plato use, and I gave away my triton mini.

I guess its the other aspects of the vapour itself thats won me over.

In some earlier messages I said I couldn't get it to gurgle if I'd wanted it to. Well since then I've had a few instances of minor gurgle. So I can see how it is possible with this tank but not, for me so far, in a way that actually causes much annoyance.

Northern NJ native , Coastal NC now.
I recently jumped on the Kanger Subtank Mini deals for $9.99 (deals and steals ) thread and i'm glad i did . I am not a sub ohmer but so many said it's great with 1.2 ohm coils etc...

Well the included RBA makes this one hell of a tank , no leaks , great flavor and more cloudage than i care for .

I just use the RBA with it and have used coils from 1.1 -1.5 and the vape is fantastic . MTL or Straight lung it doesn't matter.
