Hi.

I am 8 days vaping with the Aspire Pocketx, I am on a 12mg nicotine level but added an 18mg liquid into my vape yesterday but it was too strong so cleaned it out and put my 12mg back in. It is not burning my throat and isn’t pleasant. I changed the coil yesterday thinking it was still soaked in the 18mg but it’s still the same now. I’ve ordered new coils but it’s unpleasant to vape it now.

Please help!

I recommend rinsing these coils under a hot water faucet for about 5 minutes or some people shake in vodka. There are videos on youtube for more detailed instruction. That way you don’t have to toss coils as they’re not cheap sometimes. You can also do this with coils if you catch them before they start going too bad. It lengthens their lifespan.
If you haven’t already, just to rule everything out, I’d break down your tank and clean all parts well in dish soap & water, then rinse well. If you’re using it immediately afterwards, I’d use q-tips to dry it well wherever you can’t get with a paper towel. A bit of water won’t hurt anything.
12mg nicotine... The six days vaping, before trying the 18mg, did you get any unpleasantness at all? I’m assuming you went from smoking cigs to vaping 8 days ago?
When I first started vaping, I went from those higher strength nicotine juices down to 12 in the first week and then down to 9 a week or so later. Maybe your body and taste buds are adjusting to vaping. I remember ordering higher nic samples from all over. I thought they all just had bad vape juice:lol: Then I realised the high nic was making them undesirable to me. I did figure out that certain flavors of ejuice did hide the nic best. Fruits do this best IMO.
Hope this helps!
(I’m not saying you should drop your nicotine too quickly as it could lead back to cigs. Just find what works for you as it’s your journey.:))

My first reply to health issues, see your doctor.

I’m not familiar with your gear, but I’ve never experienced burning, and I started with 24 mg/ml. The higher the nic or pg the more throat hit, and some flavors add to that as well, but I would not call it burning.

Could be your coil is bad, they do get cooked after a while, and you’ll want to keep some extras on hand. Personally I will not vape on a burnt coil.

I put a few drops of double methol in it yesterday as well so possibly it could be that that is burning but I have cleaned it out with tissue and put a new coil in since then, thanks for the advice. I’ll properly clean it tomorrow x

I have changed the coil only yesterday, I’ve been advised to clean everything with water and soap, so will try that. Thank you

A couple drops of double menthol might be enough for a 20-60ml bottle of ejuice, depending on how mentholated you like it. I probably don’t have experience with the menthol you’re using but IMO they’re all pretty strong. So you might be right. And you’re most welcome!

Blow dryer setting on low, if you are desperate to use them now. Go easy on it though.

Good luck, and yes, too much menthol can be rather harsh.

I’be just been to buy a new liquid for it and the only one they had was a 0.8mg Cherry, so I got that and washed out the coil and ecig and it’s still a bit burny.

@Alice Schofield , it's good to have all your answers in one place, and it makes things easier. You could ask the mods to merge all your pocketex threads, so that all your answers are in one place, it's generally requested to not make duplicate threads. Etc. I did answer, but on a different thread.

I just realised I had one very similar to Aspire Pocketx I used for dtl vaping. Are you using ceramic coils?

Hey, I’m not too sure. I have attached a picture from Amazon. Thanks for replying!

You may want to try their new 1.2 coil for it- they're much cooler. The .6 coils are really warm, and with that high of nic, you may also want to stick with 12mg. Also, I've confirmed with others on here that the .6 coils seemed to have a bad run, and we were all getting some burned out duds. Not sure if it's fixed, but just fyi.

I would try the 1.2 coils, which are made for nic salts, and that way you can use your high nic. Just my two cents.

Thank you, that’s great to know. I’m heading to a vape shop tomorrow for help in person. I value all the replies!

Okay, a couple things... I was surprised the aspire site didn’t have much on their site about this coil but this is what I found about it...
Aspire - PockeX Coils
This one isn’t a ceramic coil, though they are available.
My daughter has this vape as a back up. I asked her about it and she described the same as you and @drysprocket So I would most definitely try the 1.2 as he suggests. I believe this'll solve your issue. The smaller one (downgrade) I purchased to use, when I was a new vaper, while my main vape was charging. (Main was a Smok Helmet which had to be plugged in to be charged.) These Aspires are nice compact vapes though!

I will look at the vape you said and try and get a new coil for it tomorrow. I really appreciate you taking your time to look up about it. I’m really new to vaping so learning as much as I can from this post!
