Im 2 weeks in and experienced the same thing with 18mg nic and 2.2~2.5ohm clearos. It started a few days in and got bad at a week. I even stopped tasting my juice for a day or so. It frustrated the hell out of me but I increased my already high h2o intake and hung in there. Now, it has calmed way down. I also dont draw straight in to my lungs anymore. It amplified my throat irritation, plus mouth hits taste better.

That is just dry morning throat, try drinking half a cup of milk or coffee with cream, if you like it that way first, then vape, should be fine. I get that too, and if I don't drink half a cup of something that will slightly coat and moisten my throat before vaping, it feels like sand paper the first few hits.

Excellent advice in this thread. I suffered for about a week early on but once it stopped it never came back. I grabbed a bag of werthers and vaped a caramel tobacco while sucking on a candy. That plus water really helped. I would say to anyone suffering from a sore throat that it's totally normal unless it lasts more than 2 weeks or continues worsening after a week. Then it's time to start looking at other things.

Its only 12 and I'm a pack a day menthol smoker.

There's no good "guide" for what's equivalent to what. 12mg may be too high for you. I was a two pack a day smoker of menthols but I'm vaping 6mg right now (in fact, it's probably lower, I'm mixing myself and starting with 6mg plain nic, I'd have to sit down and do the math for X amount of flavor mixed in Y size bottle and yada, yada). I vary mine depending on time of day and other things. I have 12 to 18 for the times I would normally really, really want a cig (first in the morning with coffee or after a meal, times like that) but my regular stuff is 6mg and lower. Especially at night. Moderate to high nic at night will keep me awake late.

First suggestion is can you go back to the vendor that you got your juice from and get the same one but with 0 nicotine? That way you could mix them and cut the nic in half.

People also have different reactions to PG and VG. You say you have 50/50 right? You could try small bottles of 100% PG and 100% VG. See if there's a difference. You may need to go one way or the other instead of being in the middle.

Also, try not to "inhale" at all. In smoking, the nicotine (and the other 4,000 chemicals) are absorbed in the lungs. We're all used to drawing the smoke deep to get the nic. In vaping, it's absorbed in the mouth (and nasal passages if you do the exhale through the nose, which I do, I get more flavor and nic that way).

So you don't really need to get the vapor that far "back". Just hold it in your mouth a bit. Do more like a pipe or cigar "puff" kind of thing.

Some folks like "throat hit". The nic hitting the back of the throat. I never cared for it. Even as a smoker. I preferred a "smooth" kind of smoke thing. Had to get used to a different kind of inhale and fiddle with my nic level to get the vape I liked. For a while, I didn't really do an "inhale" much at all. Just drew the vapor into my mouth, held a bit, blew it out. Didn't stay with that for very long but kind of had to at first. My habit was to suck the stuff into my lungs. And lungs don't seem to like water vapor. I'd try coughing a lung up. :)

Also, don't forget, smoking screws with your throat. And those of us who smoked menthols were "masking" throat issues. Menthol does a soothing thing that masks irritation the smoke is causing. Your throat may just be irritated from the smoking and need some time to recover now that the smoke is gone. You might have to do a "cigar puff" kinda thing a while, give your throat some time to calm down.

Ok I just started vaping yesterday when I go all my stuff in. I have a 1000mah ego-t. When I said last night I was using the atomizer and tank and this morning I tried the clearomizers. They work great but it's burning the back of my throat to the point I can't even stand doing it. The sensation is not pleasant. I've red everything about not ducking directly into your lungs, tried that and it still hurting. Any suggestions?

Hello and welcome.
You probably had this same issue when you started smoking........just forgot.
It is an adaptive learning curve you will have to master.
I agree with drinking something before vaping. Wake the throat muscles up and moisten tissue.
Slow down your inhale and draw lightly. Your body is going to resist for a few days but it gets easy and soon you will be able to vape without any reactions.

So - Slow - light - 2/3 second max mouth inhales. Rinse and repeat. Same as the bad habit, it will become second nature in no time.:)

Since it didn't hurt when you were using the atomizer and it does now, I'd have to say it's the head on the clearo. I had one like that last week. I think the coil wire was wrapped too tight around the wick and starved it. Or something. It was my all-day-every-day juice, so that wasn't it. Turned it all the way down to 3.3V (it was a 2.2 oHm) Nothing helped.

Change the head on your clearo, or if not changeable, try a different one. See if that helps.

Could also be withdrawal from quitting cigarettes. I quit chewing with vape and was very sick for the first week or so.
Also pg/vg will really dry you out, it literally sucks moisture out of your body, starting with your mouth and throat. On top of that nicotine and other chemicals in the flavoring hitting your throat might irritate it. So always have a huge cup of water by your side.

And i just realized this is a very old post.
