Hello,

I'm using Aspire BVD, BDC type coils and tanks. Before I went full vape to get off the smokes, everything was great and coils would last awhile. Now that I vape almost a tank worth per day to stay off the smokes, I guess my coils are going bad every two days. Just out of the blue it will taste like burnt toenail clippings. It's hard not to go back to a regular smoke when this happens. Also, 2 out of every 5 pack of BVD coils leak like a sieve. Kind of a waste of money.

Just trying to figure out how to make this all reliable to stay off the analog smokes.

Thanks!

1: basically the coil might last for a certain amount of milliliters of eliquid; so when you vape more per day, your coil lasts fewer days.
2: to avoid the inconsistency of quality control of prefab coils, you get a rebuildable and wrap and wick your own coils;

So now I'm looking at a Kanger Subtank Mini, that seems to include an RBA. Is this a good choice, even though I have 3 of the aspire BDC tanks already?

That is it, not clones!

The burnt taste usually comes from a dry wick, but I don't understand how the coils can leak. The bottom is within the tank, & the top is vented up a long chimney to the drip tip.

Most of my leaks on both aspire and kanger tanks/coils have been via the air intake holes in the bottom part of the coils. Sufficient flooding of the coil causes juice to flow through those holes and make its way towards and beyond the air holes on the tank itself.

Also check on the aspire triton; if there is coil compatibility you might want to go that direction.

I just got a subtank plus yesterday myself; also got an order on the way with 10 rba heads

Proceed with caution if you currently take mouth-to-lung hits.

What battery do you use? If variable wattage, what wattage?

We are just entering an era where the likes of aspire and kanger are making pre-made coils for their premium tanks that serve both the sub-ohm/direct lung hit and non-sub-ohm/mouth-to-lung hit markets. But if wishing to stick to pre-made coils, I'd give it a bit more time to see how people are getting on since the aspire triton is very new (I just got mine today) and the new vertical 1.5ohm coil for the subtanks has only recently reached shops too.

If you discover that sub-ohm stuff and direct lung hit stuff is not for you, yes you can use the subtank RBA to build a coil with higher resistance. But how tight the air draw is on the tank & coil system as a whole also makes a big difference. I can just about mouth-to-lung hit with the subtank mini and RBA or 1.5 ohm coils, but I' rather be able to take an even tighter draw, my mouth fills up too quickly! Hence me buying a triton to see if it does better in this regard, which so far it does :)

I guess what I'm trying to say is that finding an option that can handle your desired VG ratio is not the only factor here. Finding out whether you enjoy the sub-ohm style of vaping/direct lung hits being a big one that ideally you'd be able to answer before spending money.

That's a ET-S. The BDC is the type of coil (Bottom Dual Coil). As far as those lil ego type tanks go, you have one of the best. Don't put Kanger's crap coils in it. The Aspire coils are FAR superior. If you want to get away from that style of tank, you are looking at a whole new set of gear. New mod, new tank, etc. But I wouldn't put 100% VG in that. It wasn't designed for it. If you do, coils will last a couple of days max and there will be a lot of dry hits (that nasty toenail taste you mentioned).

Because the Triton is new, I doubt there is much knowledge about how its 1.8ohm coil performs with 100% VG yet. I'll be happy to try that for you but I need to wait till I get more coils, since I only have the 1.8ohm that came with the tank and will cry if I burn it now! I also suspect that people will still report different results, based on anything from the wattage they use to how frequently and long they inhale for, and perhaps even the ambient temperature at their location.

The Triton is also not cheap, and neither are the replacement coils.

For all of these reasons, especially if you need a replacement quite quickly, you might in the meantime want to enquire as to how people have gotten on with the nautilus mini and 100% VG, since thats an extremely popular mouth-to-lung tank.

I would say the Subtank versions.. Mini/Plus/Nano is a wise decision. The OCC can work on the 30w device and includes the RBA so that when you are ready to make your own coils, it is a good platform to start on. And you can use the high VG in them

The one you have now is not for high VG. It is designed for the standard 70/30- PG/VG even though those ratios can vary and still work.
