Today I received the Aspire Zelos from ejuiceplug.com in CA.
Took it out of the box. Hit the button five times, screen not lit. Ok, I figure maybe these come not charged. So I plugged it in for 2 hours. Took it off, put my T22 tank on it. Hit the button 5 times. It's on because I'm vaping it, but nothing on the screen. Hit the fire button 3 times a few times to possibly get it out of stealth mode-no screen. Turned it on and off several times - no screen. Hit the +,- at same time to maybe see if it would light up and show modes- nothing. Tried fire button and + at same time to try to unlock buttons-no screen. I've tried it with the tank installed, tank off, changed from T22 to Nautilus 2.
It vapes when on, and also in pass through. But I cannot get the screen to light up. I've done every process 10 times.
Did I just get a stinker?

Try fire button 3 times if you haven't already.

Edit: nevermind. I'm sorry I missed you've tried that.
Yeah, I think I've tried everything. I just thought as a last resort before contacting supplier there might be a miracle reset or magic trick somehow. Oh well, bound to happen I guess.
Lousy part is that I can vape it. And it's a nice flavorful vape, but I don't have any idea where the device is set at. Lol.

I'd do a return to sender, especially as it's brand new. I'm sure it will vape well once you have a properly functional one.

3x while it's ON already is what my zelos manual says. My does get flaky tho on occasion. Or, it's me. Easy return being doa.

Did you find one somewhere that sells the mod only?
I'll see what the supplier says. It's a new one to me, but I've read good reviews about them. We'll try to figure it out Monday.

My zelos came charged up to 70 percent ish, and I had none of these issues that you are having. Sounds like a dud to me... and I think you've tried everything to remedy the issue, the zelos is really non-complicated, 5 fires won't turn it off, but puts it in sleep mode, which seems to be just the same as off, in terms of power usage. I'd say return it for a warranty, it shouldn't be doing any of those things. I find it a nice vape as well, and once you get a different zelos, I think you'll find it pretty easy to dial in a wattage that you like. I run mine around 12 watts usually (it's my backup tank, and I enjoy the vape enough that I keep it out at home and use it for testing out my wicking a lot, as I've had catastrophic leaks and I prefer leaking all over the zelos as easier clean, LOL) but ONCE you get one that works, I have a feeling you are going to like it a lot.

Sorry you got a dud, mild PITA, but at least it presented itself as a dud quickly, so that you are under warranty. Best of luck. :)
