It is so natural for newcomers to have questions, but I think it woukd be a great service to all of us if somebody still able to start a thread in the New Members Forum would post a "Gentle Reminder to Canadian Vapers" to please remember discretion in discussing nicotine ejuice and Canadian vendors, and that probably anybody from Canada would be happy to help them out in a PM.

The first vendor I ordered from was recently forced to restrict sales to zero nic so it does happen ... Not only am I very grateful to vendors for something I believe is a real public service, but we all lose out if our vendors come to the attention of those who wish to interfere.

I wish I had saved one last New Members post to put this up! I think a lot of new Canadian vapers are innocently asking the obvious questions but not necessarily understanding the need for discretion until after the fact.

Or maybe we should ask that a sticky for Candian vapers be put in the New Members Forum? Don't know whether the moderators would consider that appropriate ... maybe someone here has a better idea?

I honestly don't think that helps at all. It's not like people on here are doing background checks on every person who asks for the list in order to not give it to a person looking to hassle vendors. If someone wants to find out that information, they can. Trying to keep it a secret on a high profile public forum like this is near impossible.

Yes, I guess that is a fair point that anyone could get the list ... possibly I am just feeling overly protective of my nicotine and bad for the vendor who had to stop selling it.

I'm with astounded on this (but no need to specify the PM thing - it's already there for anyone who explores the forum a bit).

It's not about stopping 'them' finding the names of suppliers - I'm sure 'they' already know all the ones who sell online. It's more about discretion.

Most of the suppliers here go to great lengths to be discreet about selling nic juice, and the powers-that-be seem reasonably satisfied so long as that's the case. More open discussion of who's selling what might provoke more demand for regulation ("OMG, children could see these websites!!!" etc etc).

It's crazy that we should have to live with a kind of nicotine equivalent of "don't ask, don't tell", especially over something so many of us find (literally) life-saving, but the alternative might be worse.

In addition, my lists of vendors are available by PM and has been pretty successful in directing people to the right places.

The fact is though that it is highly unlikely that a lack of discretion here has anything to do with HC tracking down and bullying nic vendors to stop selling it. They pick easy targets -- the ones who are most likely to bend to their bullying, who may not be aware that HC has no real legal power to stop them from selling unless they break certain cardinal rules (making health claims, for example). Vapor Geek only stopped selling nic juice because there was a risk that going against the grain could have negative consequences for the other business that is her real bread and butter. But then you have vendors like Rainbow Vapor who know their rights, comply with existing regulations, and fight HC every step of the way -- and win.

One way or another this will be sorted out in due course, and it's still a good idea to use discretion, but neither is this a delicate web that could be obliterated if someone sneezes in the wrong direction. Our vendors are growing bolder and more resilient as more and more become aware of their rights and the law as it exists right now. And that's just what we need.
