I got my Omega in the mail. It misfired ALOT. It had a fairly large ding on the battery housing. It tarnished, almost white it 2 days. It went through batteries much quicker then my SB. The threads seemed to be rough, and nowhere near as smooth as my SB. I was a bit bummed.
THEN, I saw Chad's Omega maint video. I took it apart, and discovered that the contact switch wasn't aligned properly, and pushing down far enough. I adjusted that very easily, and now it fires every time. Then I took their advise, and used a 3.7v battery, instead of stacking a 6 v configuration. I did however put on a LR atty, since I'm a 6 v guy, and now the battery life is excellent.
Then I got the cleaner he suggested, and put a little lube on the threads, and now its like butter. Best PV I ever had. It took a little tweaking, but, hey, its a new run of a new product. Very happy to report that this thing kicks ....! Thanks guys.

I've had my Omega for a week now, and it is a solid performer. I am finding that it tarnishes VERY quickly. Maybe I'm just ultra particular, but after a day of use, it starts to look pretty rough until I polish it again with the Gel Gloss. After polishing, it looks like a million bucks, but it's a shame it doesn't last longer. If it just had a more tarnish resistant finish (or was offered in a black version like my BSB), the Omega would be a solid 10 out of 10 for me.

Mine tarnished after a while. I wasn't sure if it might have been the polish/cleaner I used on it. That might have something to do with it but there is definitely a finish thing too. The bottom is distinctly more tarnished than the top. It's sort of a white/cream colored effect and especially noticeable under fluorescent lighting. I do think it also may be caused by skin oils and more likely sweat. The bottom part of the top is a little tarnished where the top part of the top (switch cover and connector holder) does not appear to be tarnished at all. Might indicate some variation in the plating process since they are different pieces. I'm guessing the plater did batches of one part at a time?

It doesn't bother me much.

Mine has tarnished fairly quickly, too. About 3 days, but a quick 1 minute of rubdown with polish, and it's good as new.

For those of you who would have preferred a different finish, you more than likely have a car shop with powder coating capabilities in your town. Or even just a machine shop. I'm thinking of getting the bevelled part of mine media blasted or powder coated, since it's a bit...slidey when I'm using it, and the bulk of my had rests in the bevel.
