I just opened up a fresh atlantis coil and the wick looked different, like perhaps was wrapped in cotton. Did a little research and supposedly they are now being manufactured and shipped with organic cotton. Can anyone confirm this or am I just trippin? The flavor is noticeably better too. Not that it wasn't good before, but definitely better now. And the idea of not inhaling ceramic mystery particles that "SHOULD be safe as long as the coil is wet" definitely makes me happy.

I bought the new OCC coils online - local shops didn't have them as of a few days ago.

You can tell if they're the OCC or the ceramic by the blister packaging. The ceramic ones have ASPIRE in big letters on the blister pack. The OCC ones have ASPIRE in much smaller letters, then there is a bunch of tiny verbage that I cannot read. This tiny verbage was not on the ceramic coils.

Aspire started shipping the cotton coils early last week.

Members in the UK have seen them and there is a shop or two here in the US that has them in stock. Expect to see more of them as vendors sell through their current inventory of old coils.

I believe Aspire started shipping the cotton coils for the Nautilus last week, the Aspire Atlantis cotton coils were available thru Kidney Puncher roughly a month ago. As the stock of old Atlantis coils are depleted the cotton coils are becoming more common. Of course it's possible I'm totally wrong about this, however I do recall a thread in General Vaping discussing this with a link to Kidney Puncher from early February.

Nope that sounds 100% right, was coming here to mention that KP has had them for some time now (they manage to get in early on some neat products).

Can you? So then which one is which?

Top is new all cotton coils from Kidney Puncher, dissected one to confirm it seems to all be cotton, not the material that crumbles when you rub it like I've seen in videos. The bottom is a pack I bought when I bought the Atlantis a little over a month ago.. No difference, but I have read about how the foil on the back is different on the new all cotton ones. Just figured I'd share, maybe I got the cotton ones by chance the first time?

I don't think so, new organic cotton BVC heads were just released.

The packaging is identical, the only difference that new cotton heads have substantially larger wicking holes on the side.

Top is new:

This is what the foil looked like when I got my verified cotton ones. I may have jumped the gun in assuming they changed the foil when they switched to OCC - someone had told me this and my experience confirmed it. Yours may counter the claim though. :(

These new coils are for the Atlantis. Has anyone heard anything about the new coils for the Aspire Mini? I don't think that they're interchangeable; Atlantis > Mini.

Peter

The Atlantis and Nautilus coils aren't interchangeable, no. That said, I think they are making .8 ohm BVC coils? I think I saw that somewhere, could be wrong..

My new organic cotton coils are for Aspire Nautilus Mini, not Atlantis. Or Aspire Mini is a different tank than Nautilus Mini?

As nyiddle confirmed the new coils are not for the Aspire Nautilus Mini (yet?). To me its all a bit confusing as the Atlantis is different from the Nautilus, which is different from the Nautilus Mini.. If I remember correctly. the Mini needs its own dedicated coil. They look a lot like the Atlantis and Nautilus coils, but they're not the same.

Sweet! I hope the cotton coils work as good as the original, Personally I prefer silica since it seems to handle going dry better. With cotton it's been my experience that once the material goes a little dry it gets burned very easily, and that taste never leaves the coil unit once it happens. For this reason, I sorta wish they had stuck with the previous material.
