Great info, and thank you. I like to fix things, that’s my joy.

As it was not working properly before and the cap was on so tight that the unit required emptying from the bottom before using tools to remove the overly-tight top cap. None of the other recommended solutions solved the issue for me... There was no user error.

Most may be great, but mine had a flaw and the changes made solved the issue. The unit is working fine now, no leaks or other and I’m totally satisfied with it and the company.

YMMV.

Why it's called tripod / Τρίποδο? Does it have 3 legs???

From You are being redirected...

"With so many RTAs out there, it was very hard to conceive anything that would really be one step ahead, presenting a true improvement in several aspects of RTA design and function. We needed to end up with something that
a. would have top vaping performance, taking the best out of a single-coil RTA
b. would be versatile enough out of the box, in order to satisfy a wide variety of vaping profiles
c. would set a new paradigm in the field of ergonomics, optimising all basic vaping controls / features / functions that an RTA could offer
Basing on the above three main pillars of evolution, we have proudly delivered the Tripod RTA. The device incorporates some successful details of previous Atmizone projects, including the VapeShell, the Keras and the Creek, at the same time introducing some quite interesting new features."

 Bummer. Did you contact the vendor? It really shouldn't be like that.

I'll be requesting an RMA for both of these Ulton Tripods. I scratched one very slightly trying to use pliers with a thick rubber band over the deck to hopefully coax it loose (trying to prevent scratches). This thing won't budge using any strategy. Both are locked down from the chimney being forced onto the deck at the factory. I have removed all parts to try and break it down to a point where I can get more access to parts. If you can't remove the chimney you can't successfully reassemble it because the female part recedes into the deck. For that reason the deck can't be re-installed. You have to be able to have the chimney off to hold the female part and insert the screw and tighten it.

The funny part is that both chimneys are stuck like super glue even with all accessible parts removed. It's hilarious when you read in the instructions the the chimney should twist to align the arrows and remove the deck. :) Not going to happen with either one. I can't pull it off or twist it.

These things were sealed in clear shrink wrap over the package, so it's obvious that whoever put it together at the factory had to force both chimneys onto the decks to make them bottom out. There's no sliding or twisting to get them off. They are like they are welded on but it's a force fit. New guy on the assembly line, I guess. No telling how many were sent out like this.

@DaveP, I've never seen anything like it from the Ulton clone.

As everyone else has mentioned, at most you'll get is some resistance. Not totally bound and unable to move.

Both of these have chimneys that are locked in place. I've consulted with this thread and made sure that I'm doing it right. They are just on so tight that there's no way to turn and align the arrows, even with a couple of wraps of duct tape wrapped around the chimney and base and 10" pliers holding the atomizer deck and another set of pliers holding the base. It's like they are press fit by design not to move.

2Fdeal isn't really a great place to create an RMA. You can't chat with anyone and once the RMA is entered you have to wait for a reply to continue the process. They are fine as long as you order and receive good parts, but the RMA process isn't so great. We'll see how long it takes for them to respond.

You could try sending them a short video of the problem to help things move along a little quicker @DaveP, as it's like the deck o ring has turned into glue.

The fitting is a bayonet type, twist to align marks and pull.

So as you were thinking earlier, is it a batch issue and if so how many others have had the same or similar issues?

I routinely tear down my new attys and soak all parts in alcohol or dish soap to remove any oil residue. I proceeded to pull my tripod apart and do that. When I reassembled it the base wouldn't move the arrow to allow pulling the deck and building it. My bad. I've got to spend some time studying the way the parts go together to make the bottom barrel rotate the arrow inside the deck. I'll eventually get it back together and it will be fine. I just jumped in and assumed that re-assembly would be obvious. Not!

This atty is different enough that you can't just tear it down and assume that it goes back together like a Kayfun V2 or most any other design. :)

Watch Stan Qorax's video I posted above. He very meticulously goes through the whole process of taking the atty apart and then putting it back together.

Nice thread Ange!!! :)

I absolutely love my Atmizoo Tripod's. The Tripod has awesome flavor and is very much on par with my Kayfun's, Dvarw's or Pocket v2 RTA's. It is very easy to build on and maintain. I've had mine since batch 1 was released (over a year) and have had zero issues. I vape mine MTL-RDL-DL (all depends).

Ice matte w/3.4ml ext (batch 1) [L] + SS matte (batch 2) [R].

Building and wicking the Tripod is most similar to any of the modern Kayfun's. It has a very similar deck design to the K5 and also the KM3, Prime or KFL19.

I like to have my coil raised ~1.5 - 2mm above the AF. You can use the the cut outs on the rim of the deck for aligning your coil.
View attachment 896741 Here my coil is ~2mm above the center AF block.

View attachment 896743 A simple 26g 316L coil at 0.45Ω. The Tripod has worked great with every type of wire I've used (simple round to claptons).

I have the 1.8mm AF pin installed on the one in the pic above. If using any of the air flow pins add juice around its o-ring before installing. Raise the post screws to install or uninstall the AF pins. They are easy to install/remove.

The AF with the basic Tripod kit does MTL (using a 1, 1.2, 1.5 or 1.8mm AF pin) to DL (4mm airflow wide open). Use the AFC at the base of the deck to dial in your preferred airflow. To further fine tune the airflow Atmizoo sells a Fixed Airflow Tubes Kit specifically for RDL/DL vaping. It includes five tubes with 2, 2.2, 2.5, 2.8, 3mm AF. I do not know if those work with the clones (if 1:1 they should).

View attachment 896747 Wicking is easy on the Tripod (see pic for tips). The Tripod is wicked the same as a K5, KM3, Prime or KFL19. The wick tails should be just touching the bottoms of the juice wells (no more/no less). Trim the wick tails as described in the photo. For best performance you do not want the wells overstuffed with wick.

I like to make sure none of the wick is touching the center AF block. This prevents any juice from possibly seeping down the AF hole on the deck (same as a Kayfun). I make a gap under the shoulders of my wick. Simply move the wick shoulders away from the center AF block to get the gaps (see above pic). A paper clip, or needle, works very nicely for getting the gaps.

Wick. I use both rayon and cotton. With a 2.5mm ID coil I don't trim anything from the wick. Don't need to as the juice wells are large. I do lightly trim some from each of the tail sides when I use a 3mm ID (or larger). YMMV

Drip tip. The DT is a two piece assembly. You can unscrew it and use your own 510 DT's. If you do remove it leave the clear gasket inside of the top cap installed.

The Tripod uses JFC (juice flow control). To open the JFC simply rotate the glass tank section to expose your wick. Close it for filling the tank. Remember to turn the Tripod upside-down in order to remove the deck if you have juice still in the tank. See the manual (below) for details.

I would suggest trying it with, and without, the chamber reducer installed. You will be surprised. ;)

Tripod manual for specs, usage and other tips. Second photo lists the o-ring sizes.

ETA: @Zazie, I haven't created a PDF tutorial yet for the Tripod however this will get you up and running.
This was so helpful, specially the wicking technique. I've been using an Ulton Tripod for 2 months and haven't been able to stop it from leaking on me! After about 20 minutes of using it it starts to accumulate juice on the airflow...I think that maybe i've been stuffing too much cotton on the well and it rests on the afc causing it to leak.

I really hope the gaps on the wicking prevents it from leaking! Thank you so much!

@DaveP, I found the Tripod to be one of the simpler RTA's to disassemble and reassemble.

But you can't break it down any further if the deck and base assembly doesn't budge from the vapour chamber.

And the only way to rotate the base is with the airflow control ring, which is fun when you need to change direction. An atty stand or sacrificial mod can help as well though, go against the threading to tighten as it helps if they're going to be stubborn.

I own the Ulton Tripod and it works flawessly. I've tried it in DL and MTL modes, with all sorts of coils and setups, but the flavor don't convince me.

Don't get me wrong, is good, yes it is, but is not that amazing as people and reviewers say.

The Precisio or Patibulum produce better flavor. IMO.

Well i have the SXK clone, but i don’t like it :( using it with the tightest insert like all my mtl rtas, but i don’t like the draw and the flavour Is not there. Ah and it is leaking

Are you meaning the Dvarw MTL FL RTA? If so, there's a thread on it here:
Dvarw MTL RTA by Coppervape (clone)
Have a read through that. I've asked for it to be unlocked, so post your problem in it once you can.
