Welcome,

Here is a thread on the subject. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/42077-10-tips-avoid-harsh-burnt-taste-510-atomizers.html

There are quite a few threads beside this 1 as well.

hope it helps

This is a good starter for you. Also you might do some research about your ecig here on ECF and check the ohms of your atomizer. For example, 1.5 ohm atomizers don't work for me at all and I only use 3.7 volts - everything tastes burnt with them. Might be your atomizer is too hot (low ohms) for your particular rig.

What kind of Ecig did your friend give you? From time to time an atomizer needs to be washed and dried. Try holding it under the hot water tap for a couple of minutes. Let if fill and empty over and over. Set it inverted with the large end down on a towel for 5 minutes and then do a dry burn to clear the rest of the water out of the bowl. To dry burn, go into a darkened room and look down into the atomizer while holding the button down. When you see a cherry red glow, release the switch after a second or two. Do this a few times and then drop 2 or 3 drops into the atomizer bridge (the metal mesh you see in the atty) and vape.

The initial vapor may be weak. Vape until the vapor returns. You may have to prime the atty with a couple more drops after the initial vape.

PS I use a 510.

If you don't feel good about trying a dry burn, why don't you soak your atomizer in White Vineger for 45 minutes or so and then give it a good warm water rinse/blow out. Let it dry overnight and then drop 3 drops of your e-juice into the cart end to prime it. The vineger removes the built up gunk that dry burning also removes.

The key to an atomizer is to not vape when it's out of e-juice.
