Atomizer coil pop shoot down throat?

i saw a youtube of a coil dry burn and he held it too long or had the volts too high or something and he popped the coil and it hit him in the eye. It looked pretty bad, like he scurried away and the video ends. If one takes too long of a hit or sets the wrong volts or something, I guess the coil could pop down their throat like swallowing a staple. I did some googling but found nothing about this. I sometimes point the PV tip to the roof of my mouth, though. Anyone heard of this?

Nope, I've never heard about anything like that. I'm not in the least worried about a coil popping and me swallowing it. There are too many possible, although unlikely things that CAN happen to worry about them all. You can if you want to.

Hi, Yes this have happened to me once early in my vaping career. I popped a coil and a bit of it hit the roof of my mouth and burnt the hell out of me. I didn't swallow it thank god. But it hurt quite a bit for a few days.

I couldn't find the video where it hits his eye. Maybe I'll find it later. It definitaly didn't look staged. Without auto-off batteries that sort of know to not pop the coil, I think it's possible to happenwhile vaping, not just while dry burning. especially a top coil and a wide drip tip.

Something must have gotten clogged or trapped likely from flooding and really gunking up the coil to propel off like that.

Manufacturing defect?

Just point away from your face when dry-burning.

I've never seen a piece of a coil break of when they pop. I've seen them split and pop. Also, if the coil is soaked in juice it isn't going to pop. If it is getting red hot while you are vaping there is a problem with the coil.

It can be done.I try to do it once a week when I clean my atties.It can be very exciting,although it does take some practice.

Even if something where to pop off a coil in a genny when in use, the wicks and coils are offset, not directly under the drip tip, so wouldn't be able to come shooting upward.

Also when the wick is wet the coil never burns red like it will on a dry burn.

A little moisture (like some juice) can certainly fly off if you burn as coil too hot. To get a piece of the coil to fly off would mean having to actually boil the metal, and I doubt coils ever get that hot.

It's uncommon now but within the next few months, during FDA research, it will become a very well documented problem. As well as over heating and leaking battery acid. Ohhhh the dangers

pretty sure it's metal and not juice that hits his eye in the video. I searched everything and couldn't find it eventhough I'm 95% sure the description mentions "coil" hits "eye". If metal can fling only when dry maybe it can happen during a dry hit in something like a vivi nova without the 'easter egg' in the tip, but since no one's heard of it, I'm not concerned.

When the circuit breaks the coil breaks ( wire breaks ) there isn't enough pressure for this to happen, plus each end of the coil is still attached to the + & - sides. going on 4yrs of vaping have never heard of such a thing, and highly doubt it to be true. Proof is in the putting, lets see it
