One of my atomizer gives very little vapor, as if it's flooded but it isn't. It is new, only been used 1 day. I get flavor and it seem to be very snappy as far as heating up quickly and glows very brightly (more so than my others) when you peek in and give it a quick dry burn. While drawing on it, it feels/tastes like you're about to get a pretty good hit....then almost no vapor comes out.

Anyone know what the deal is?

Yes, a 510. In the week I have been vaping, of 6 atomizers I have, between 2 from my tornado kit, 2 from my Joye 510 kit, and 2 that I bought from a local vendor as spares, only the 2 that came with my Joye 510 work worth a damn. Some flood constantly, some are super hard to draw on as if plugged up, some taste rancid...one works well.

I hate to whine, but that is pretty ****ing pathetic, and more than annoying as hell.

I hear you. I've used five different 510 atties so far, with a couple unopened spares. Four of them had a real drop off in vapor and hit after only a couple days. No amount of cleaning could get them performing again.

After ripping the bridge off a couple I'm starting to think that the fibreglass wick is the problem. I understand it's supposed to be wrapped around the coil in a certain way so it wicks and lets the air flow properly. If it's not that certain way due to to build quality issues, maybe that causes our problems.

Ironically the first atty I ever bought to test the 510 still works perfectly. I've been using it over a month without any sort of cleaning whatsoever... I'm afraid to jinx it until I find another one that can go a week without starting to have problems.

My old m401 atties never had problems. Unfortunately they didn't burn much juice either so there wasn't much vapor or throat hit to begin with :(

The atty's mesh is not moist enough after the dry burn. Put 3 drops of juice on the bridge, vape a bit. Add another 3 drops and the atty will be ok. Also, look for differences between the atties. Are there ones with a wider bridge? If so they are probably SLB atties and not Joye's. SLB atties perform a bit worse at regular voltages, but are good at 6 volts.

I was about to start a post on this myself. I bought 3 types of atomizers/cartomizers for to get my mom started on E-cigs about 3 weeks ago. I think the cartomizers got burnt by running them dry, so we gave up on them for now. The DSE801 works great, even if it gets a little flooded it's back to going in no time and has never been cleaned. The 510 which is everyones favorite has been nothing but a pain in the .... for me to figure out. The 1st one was a Joye brand and worked for a few days before it would not heat up anymore even after a good cleaning and drying. The 2nd atty was the SLB brand, which made the 801 atty that does so well, seems to get flooded after she sets it down for a while. I clean it, get it working and the same thing happens. It either won't heat at all or it gets hot slowly with no or very little glow and no vapor. Even if I get it working like the 801 it still has a tiny cart that last about half a day while the 801 cart will go all day. I would have given up already but my mom likes the smaller size of the 510. What does it take to get one that works right consistently.

510s like to stay wet - they dont want to be flooded but they hate being even slightly dry - one reason I dumped cart fillers is I just dont believe they keep the bridge moist enough for long enough at the rate I use it. I think if I used the PV less (using it soley at the exact same times, for the same time periods I used a cig) it would be fine; in fact I think that the guy who invented these probably had no idea how OFTEN we'd be using them. He invented them to replace cigs, and I sure didnt smoke a cig for hours on end, for days without number. I had my days of chain smoking but it wasnt EVERY day. I think this is where most of the issues we get come from.
I agree about the threads - people forget to wipe those off and bad contact doesn't help - its especially bad with my 5v PT if the threads are wet/moist.
Sometimes the atties are just buggered - I mean from day 1 if they aren't working right and you KNOW you haven't made a user error then you just have to send them back to be replaced. Its not the sellers fault after all, its down to the manufacturer, and if they get a bunch returned from their sellers they might tighten up QC.
Just my 2 cents.
