Hi all, new member here. This is a wonderful forum that has provided so much help for the many questions that have arisen since I started vaping! Though it does make it tough to come up with an opening post with any originality!

I would be very interested in peoples thoughts regarding atomizer nicotine delivery efficiency. I have stepped down from 24 mg through 18mg nicotine, and am now happy at 12 mg. However, I now use a kayfun as opposed to an evod style atomizer. Have I really stepped down my nicotine levels? Is this possible to quantify?

Thanks in advance

Hi and Welcome to ECF!
I and a lot of vapers can tell when their intake of nicotine rises. It has a stimulant effect much the same as caffeine and you can definitely tell when you are getting too much.
Stepping down as you are doing, should be making you more aware of your intake levels. If you feel to move down another notch, by all means try it out. If you tend to want more, then step the level back up again. It is pretty simple in the idea..

All atomizers can and will vary on efficiency and also the way in which you vape effects what each one does..

I'm not sure if I understood the question.

Factory-made coils/wicks (clearomizers and cartomizers) will produce less dense and less volume of vapor compared to a RBA (rebuildable atomizer). Once you begin using home-made coils and wicks in an RBA, the larger size coils and larger volume of wick material will allow larger quantities of e-liquid to be vaporized and concentrate it into a denser and larger volume of vapor. This in effect delivers a higher rate of nicotine delivery. This often necessitates dropping at least one level in nicotine concentration in the e-liquid.

Since you have advanced from an Evod to a Kayfun, you may find that you need to drop another level of nicotine.

It's quite possible that while your liquid is less concentrated with nicotine, your body is actually processing more than before. I have no idea how likely this is; I'm apparently a nicotine fiend. I get a better experience with a nicer atomizer, but I have yet to bump down the nic level.

It's definitely possible to quantify, although I think you'd need some sort of blood test. You might be interested in the interview with Dr. Farsalinos on vaping.com.

But yeah, quantifiable yes, just probably not at home.

And welcome to ECF!

24->18->12 Hike! I did the same step down as I'm sure a lot of folks here have. I use 12mg now in my aerotank and clearomizers - mostly 80 PG / 20 VG blends from my local B&M. When I use my RDA I drip Ruthless Grape Drank 6mg, and it's just about perfect for me. I have a bottle of Ruthless EZ 12mg too, and drip a bit of that in the RDA when I feel like the 6mg isn't enough. Eventually I would like to get to 6mg across the board, but for me the important thing is to enjoy vaping and keep away from the crappy alternative that was killing me in a hurry.
