Hello ECF, I'm a new vaper, I've been vaping and off cigarettes for a month now using my aspire spryte, at first I started with 6 mg of nicotine then I bumped it up to 9 mg (freebase) to get less cravings, I vaped just under 60 ml of juice on the same coil and recently I noticed I cant feel the nicotine and I get the same cravings as cold turkey. so my question does coil life have anything to do with nicotine delivery? also when to change my coil and how to make them last longer?
P.S: I wasn't a heavy smoker by any means, I smoked 5 - 6 medium strength cigarettes a day (Marlboro mediums).

Hi Ken. Welcome to the ECF.

As you use a Coil, its performance slowly Drops Off. So you start to get Less Flavor and Less Vapor. You also will be getting Less Nicotine.

60ml for a Coil is a Pretty Good Life Span for a Drop in Coil Head. Especially on a device where you Can't Adjust the Wattage.

I Wouldn't be hesitant to change to a New Coil after that much e-liquid.

Nicotine doesn't affect coil's lifespan.E-liquids that contain sweeteners can short a coil's lifespan.
You can diy and make unflavored juice with nicotine to make your coils to last more.

Thank you for your help, that answered my question, A friend of mine also said that the nicotine delivery decreases if the coil goes bad so time to change the coil :thumbs:

Could be that you just aren't vaping a high enough nicotine. Depends on how much you smoked. 9 mg nicotine seems light to me for someone new to vaping.
I smoked 5-6 Marlboro mediums a day (so I wasn't a heavy smoker), also the problem appeared recently, I haven't had the issue since I switched to 9 mg nicotine, guess I'll change the coil and see, thanks for your help.

Welcome and glad you joined.
I'm betting changing the coil and new wick is going to shock you into realising how much your vaping has improved. I vape unflavored in RDA's and clean my coil, change my wick almost every other (3 days max.) day.
I started vaping 18mg. when I first start out, but quickly adjusted down.

Welcome, Ken, and congrats. That first month is the hardest, so you've won! When I started vaping, I was using a Nautilus 2, with the same Aspire BVC coil. According to most, I change coils very quickly. Like you, when a coil gets older, I just didn't get the same feel. I think part of it is the nic, but mostly the flavor and throat hit feeling. It's an extremely popular coil, but I never got more than about 15ml out of one, using tobacco flavors. So if you're getting 60ml, I'd consider you lucky!

To make them last longer, the often repeated (and true) advice people will give is sweeter, (usually) darker juices will foul a coil quicker. Vaping unflavored juice can make a coil last seemingly forever. A lot of people have tried soaking the spent drop in coil in alcohol or other liquid, boiling, etc. I tried but that doesn't really help much, and is a true pain. Not really worth it, imo.

Since you just started, you're likely not interested in diy juice or using rebuildable tanks, but if you tire of spending that kind of money on drop in coils, you might consider it down the road. You'll find most commercial juices are WAY over-sweetened, and diy juice saves a ton of money. With diy juice, and rebuilding, vaping is almost free- for me it's about $30 per year. And no drop in coil really comes close to the quality of vape you can get on an RTA. Although the Innokin EQ pod with the mesh coil comes closest out of all I've tried, and lasted longest for me.

So I changed the coil and I definitely feel the nic difference, I found that the flavor has decreased a bit (on the old coil) but it was still there (which I don't mind very much), I prefer using the coil as long as it satisfies my craving to the point where I don't think about smoking anymore.

I plan on switching to a rebuildable down the road because its cheaper, where I live vape gear is really expensive (A BVC coil is roughly $4.5/coil), I had a friend buy me the vape and extra coils abroad which was cheaper, so I plan to make the coils last as long as they possibly could then I'm switching to rebuildables. Maybe I'll even get to DIY but I don't vape too much (A 30ml bottle would last me 2 weeks) so it may be not worth the hassle. Thank you for your help.

Hello Ken Kaneki, in the future you may consider Squonking or Dripping with an RDA (Rebuildable Dripping Atomiser).

As an RDA is somewhat more forgiving to work with than an RTA (Rebuildable Tank Atomiser), get the wicking wrong with an RTA and they can leak the whole tank of liquid all over the place.

Welcome Ken....well done for quitting...even 5 cigs a day will kill you :) A nice fresh coil will vaporise liquid better and therefore give you the most of everything, put simply.

Don't hesitate to up your nicotine if you feel the need.....it was most of the other substances in cancer sticks that caused the illnesses....nicotine is not the demon :)

Good luck to you.

Thank you charlie1465, yes nicotine is not the demon in cigarettes, I've done some research and found many articles that say nicotine is comparable to caffeine so it's not harmful, nevertheless it is an addictive substance and my goal is to get rid of it altogether or at least reduce the harm done by the way it is consumed, that's why I switched to vaping, I hope to decrease my nicotine usage to the point where I don't need it anymore. As for now I think my current nicotine level is enough to satisfy my cravings, maybe I will need to increase to 12 mg to reduce my cravings as I can't vape all the time, but as of now 9 mg is ok for me.

I have tried my friend's RDA, the flavor is amazing. He has the Drop RDA on a squonk setup, best thing I've tried in terms of flavor although currently my MTL device is more efficient as it closely mimics a cigarette in terms of draw and throat hit.

Did changing the coil help? I would think that it would, as often the coil isn't delivering as much vapor per puff rather than being "burnt." I think about 60 ml is fairly reasonable for a coil. Change it report back.

An RTA or RDA is a great choice, for when you are ready. There are forums for that sort of thing, where you can learn and ask questions.

Also, if coils cost you that much, you could look online some US vendors and definitely some Chinese ones will have much better prices. If you like your tank and plan to use it a while you could stock up on coils, from China shipping takes a while but you can always order some from in the US, and some from China to use later.

Finally, welcome again :)

Ken Kaneki, you can get MTL RDA's such as Geekvape Ammit MTL RDA and many more.

Unfortunately that's the only one I know from memory, but I'm sure that other folks can list a lot more.
Just to chime in with a few more: Berserker MTL RDA, Etna MTL RDA, Galaxies MTL RDA ... those are ones I have in current use and I like all three.

Thanks Anna, Yes, changing the coil did fix the nicotine delivery.

As for ordering online the problem is the country doesn't allow vapor products and they would be held in customs.
