I am a newbie and have been vaping for about 2 weeks now.

A few days ago, I took a look at my atomizer and saw a couple little poly filling fibers stuck onto it, so I got a bobby pin a took them off - not a problem.

Then, I thought I saw some more poly on there, so I kept trying to scrape it off the atty, but it seemed to be "stuck."

I then realized that it actually didn't look like the other fibers I pulled out, but maybe a part of the actual atty. It looked like tiny little metal wires attached to the atty. So, not knowing what the heck to do, I tried to just "tuck" them back in with the bobby pin.

Mistake?
Does anyone know what exactly this is?
Has anybody experienced this before?

I greatly appreciate anyone who shares some info, suggestions, or experiences.

Thanks!

-Ashley

Wash
I read the other day a thread someone wrote about white stuff in their atty and they said it was a buildup of something or other from vaping. They cleaned it with mouthwash, rinsed it, dried it and said it vaped like a new one. I do agree with Keyzygirl though that it is your wick that is supposed to be there. Try cleaning but don't pry stuff out with paperclips or other tools. Good luck.

For some reason I can't start new threads, maybe b/c I'm a noob here???

Anyway, I just got a shipment of juice from a particular company and when I started using the juice on two of my 510s, bad things happened...

Very little to no vapor with this juice, not good flavor, and then even after cleaning out my attys they seem to have MUCH reduced vapor production even with juices I know previously were good. This happened simultaneously to both of my well-working attys as soon as I tried the new juice in them.

Is it possible to rescue them? I put a brand new atty on my 510 and after getting out all the primer crap (and using GOOD juice) it's working like a champ so I am 99.9% sure it's not my imagination that the yukky juice screwed up my other two attys... Help!!!

all they need is a good cleaning there is a lot of options on cleaning them.. the way I perfer to clean them is to put them in grain alcohol like ever clear for 5 mins then run hot water through them for a bit then do a few dips in the alcohol and let it dry.. that will ussually take care of the problem.. if not do dry burns on the atty.. for the dry burns hold the button down for a few seconds while blowing on the atty do around 10 seconds at a time cool off and burn again until the coil glows fast.. after that run some hot water through it again.. and dip in alcohol and let dry

Attys are tempermental little things; some will work tirelessly for weeks, even months and others just give up at the first sign of trouble. Sometimes the problem is the user, sometimes its the hardware; but they are fairly cheap to replace so its often just a better use of your time, and sanity, to keep a bunch of spares around and junk the old ones once they become a little less than premium.
Some people hang on to the old ones in case 'one day' they are fixable, others take them apart for future modding efforts, still others find the trash can an excellent receptacle for the duff ones :)
I think if you have enough spares its a good idea to have one for VG only juices, one for dark colored juices and one for everything else (I guess youd have to have one for dark AND VG only as well). At least then if one goes toes up you might be able to pin down a reason more easily if the others NEVER show a problem.
