I love the display you have there. I would like to do that one day but i got a 4 year old that is much to curious at the moment uses his fingers to explore EVERYTHING.
Fortunately (or unfortunately  ) I live alone, so I just have to worry about the pets.

All great idea's so far thx. I found my auger bits cleaning up my tool closet as i couldnt find a simple screwdriver to fix a door. I have a auger thats perfect size to make recessed seats in a piece of wood. The good thing is that it also gives me a center hole to drill out for the 510 conn to sit in. I gotta search out a nice piece of material for this maybe some oak if my local lumberyard has some cutoffs. Usually they super cheap or even give it away as its not much use to them in short lengths. Maybe ill sand it after depends what the wood looks like sometimes the rough cut stuff not to bad looking i think it gives it character.

There ya go some polly sealer and for less than 20$ you have a atty stand. You could even pick up some fancy wood knobs and put little feet on it with felt so as not to scratch your desk or table.

I got a piece of 1X6 oak from HD for a few bucks, cut it up, and glued 3 pieces together. The extra weight makes it stable. Drilled a bunch of different sized holes for batteries and tanks. I used forsner bits in the drill press, and finished it with shellac and wax so it looks classy. I made another one out of cherry from an old chest of drawers a neighbor put out for trash. Got some small sticky felt pads like you see on kitchen cabinet doors for feet. I would post pictures if I could figure out how to do that.

A piece of 2X4 would work fine if you don't need it to look fancy. Those stands you were looking at would be good if they were located somewhere they weren't going to be bumped and knocked over. Mine sit on the front of my computer desk so I need something solid.

Now I'm trying to figure out something similar to put my box mods in.

The same kind of thing would work just use a chisel to finish the corners you could add some rail or molding around the perimeter to make it look fancy.

hazematic sells some nice ones with a 510 connection on the base, and a top cover. The price is ridiculous tho just for 1 of em comes to 20$+ shipping just for one stand. the base is 304 stainless steel tho. Would be nice for those out there who baby their high end authentics. Serves as a protective display case and build deck for atties.
