Just got the Smoktech RDA and put it on my Kamry K100. I put a couple of drops of juice on the wick and coils and it didn't start to vape and my 18350 battery got really hot. I posted earlier about the Smoktech RDA and got a couple of responses to re-coil and try it again, also that there might have been a short. Could a short happen if the coils are touching each other? Is there any way to tell if a short happened or should I re-coil and try again? Any advice ECF? Would really hate it if the atomizer was defective. Any suggestions appreciated.

You have a resistance meter on your provari, check it. If it is a short on the rba then your provari will throw a warning code. If there is not a short, start at low volts and work your way up til it hits like you like it to.

How did you wrap your coil? I.E what gauge wire and how many wraps/what size silica?

WHAT?
You own a top of the line device and Don't know how to test a coil before using? Just be glad you didn't have it on a spinner or Ego Battery. It would have toasted the battery.
I learned the hard way, but I did learn and test every piece I purchase before attempting use.
Never fill a tank/Carto/Clearo until I read it to be sure there are on shorts or open coils.

I could diagnose it if it were in my hands but that doesn't do you much good. maybe an insulator is ripped or the positive lead of the coil or post is touching ground. I would not assume that the atomizer is kaput for good, but it does have an issue that needs fixing.

Do you know what ohm value the coil should be? I have to assume that it is not the coil itself as you have tried two and gotten the same results. Has it ever worked or did it act like this out of the box?

What part of California are you in?

EDIT: try removing the coil and testing the base on your provari, see if it error codes as a short or an open.
It should be an open or "no atty" but might give us a clue.
