Ralph Wiggem reference there :p

So up until this morning, been rocking out fine. Just a couple days ago, finally got carts working perfectly thanks to the help of people here.

But since this morning, I'm getting this wicked bad burnt plastic taste and feeling in my mouth and on my tongue. I'm guessing I had some cart material burn to the wick in my atty.... its gross! Not exactly sure, but this is what i'm assuming.

Looking at it, i think I see a clump of something stuck to the side of the metal mesh and there's a strand sticking out against the atty wall. Now I'd be inclined to take my tweasers and pull it out, but read too many posts of people pulling out the wick accidentally so don't want to do that till I get a spare atty.

Will it burn itself clean with some use? I've since removed the cart and going to drip till I figure out what to do.

I also found that too, when I kept refilling my carts for about a week it tasted horrible no matter how much I cleaned the atty, the cart and the filler material it still tasted very very bad. That was until I either dripped and used an empty cart (no filler) or just replaced the filler with new batting. All is good again. Maybe try that.

**EDIT** After a lil more careful reading of your post, I've also had that burnt wick...I've just taken a thin pair of scissors and cut as much wick as possible and seemed to improve taste.

Thanks all for the advice. How do I know what i'm pulling out?

Just afraid i'll damage the atty then im up a certain creek without hardware :)

Too bad i'm at work right now. Gonna have to suffer with this till I get home since I have no tools to do anything with right now.

Ordering a couple new atty's now too :)

You made me think, i've been vaping now for 2 weeks and i am still on my starter carts with the original filler.

Probably refilled them like 10+ times each now, probably more.

hmmm...

anchorage, ak
if you're using a 510 I have removed the wicks on two of my atty's and they still perform well. Possible chance they enable some leakage but I throw out 2/3 of my filler as well so it could be me. Some say it's impossible to burn that wick but mine was very charred looking at the tips so something was burnt there. You could attempt to soak the living hell out of it in something or other as well.
