I have been using my nicostick with a USB connection for a couple of weeks now. I'm very impressed with the 510 performance at 5v. But one side affect that they all get using a manual switch at 5v, heat.

I was concerned that the atomizers may have a shorter life span but that doesn't seem to be the case. One thing you have to watch out for is sucking the cart dry.

I got to wondering just how hot the atty was getting. Then I remembered that I have an infrared heat gun I use to check the temp on my RC monster truck engine. So I vaped as I usually do and when I reached the point where I normally stop to allow it to cool down I shot the atty with the heat gun. The temp at the hottest point was 159 degrees F.

I was surprised that it was that hot!

Kevin

PS: The temp was taken on the outside barrel of the atty, not the coil.

510's (tho' I don't own one, yet) do run hotter than most other atomizers. IIRC the original design had to be changed after complaints about how hot they got. For what it's worth I've run 901's/4075's and 801's for a few months on 5volts/1amp with no deaths, 6volts did kill them though. Probably not very useful info since every atomizer performs differently. 4081's(I think) have the best power tolerances.
