Atomizer threading

I just ordered a couple of LR Joye 510 atomizers from [Supplier] and they will not screw into my GGTS. It's odd because I actually ordered the same 510 atty from them a couple of months ago and it worked fine. Anyway, neither of these will work. The response I got from the supplier was this:

"[FONT="]The GGTS threading is made by Imeo in Greece--it does not use the same tolerances as Chinese manufactured threads. The Chinese compensate for a variety of thread variations by using very wide tolerances whereas the GGTS uses very tight tolerances. "[/FONT]

Is this true? How can I be sure an atomizer I order will fit? It's just especially odd that I ordered a LR Joye 510 from the same supplier 2 months ago and it worked and this order won't. Additionally, a month or so ago I ordered 2 Cisco LR 306s and they wouldn't catch the threading on my GGTS, either. So frustrating!

Is there an adapter that would resolve this? I'm wondering if there is something wrong with my threading in the cap anyway because my post has been dislodging atomizers occasionally when I tighten the connections.

GGTS threads are compatible with all atomizers buddy. But do you have the aluminium connector?

aluminum connector? I have GGTS #451 - not using the 808 adapter for the 510 or 306, of course, only for kr808 cartos. does that answer the question?

I want to understand better critter, so please check if connector is as light as the tube after the telescope. Also can you please tell me what atomizers you use more often? 510 or 801?

The connector is lighter than the extension tubes... it's brass-looking. e.g., same color as button, end cap, inner extension etc. I'm not sure if I'm answering your question.

Where would I order an aluminum connector? I checked COV and don't see anything by that name for the GGTS.

critter, I never made a non nickel plated brass connector, so the connector has to be silver looking. Maybe we talk for different things? When we say connector we mean the piece where the atomizer screws? If this is the issue I can send to Bruce a new connector for you.

it's only a guess, but my GGTS's in the 300s and 400s that all have brass connectors, so critter's is probably brass as well. i don't believe the adapters are hand made like they used to be, all is pretty standard machining now. atomizers actually have differences from batch to batch, but it could be that the threading on the brass adapter has been stripped or compromised in some way. a quick fix is probably to use something like a shorty 510 adapter that or even an 801 to 510 adapter and try those attys again. but ultimately, it may be beneficial to get a replacement connector cap or a newer nickel plated or steel version which will have much stronger threads and hold up better in the long run.

Imeo, I just sent you a link to a picture of the connector. I'm pretty sure it's brass, but I'm also pretty sure you know your connectors better than I do. Anyway, I can say for certain that it's not silver looking. You can see it in the PM I sent to you.

buGG - Thanks for replying. I don't think the threading is stripped. Some 510s and some 306s fit it fine. But then, too, the pin can pop them out, so maybe it is?

Problem solved. I was thinking about new GGTS connectors but critter has the previous GGTS model that has a brass connector

critterbug, if you are going to toss the stripped out connector I can use it. I've had success bringing them back to life and wouldn't mind seeiing what I can do for that one.

THANKS!! Any GG parts about to be retired to the trash should have a shot at add'l use......

I'll toss in some attys to offset the postage and for your trouble. If the threads a bit "loose", a concave punch will concentrically push in the walls of the connector, then it's a matter of recutting the threads with a tap. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't...it just depends on how much the walls have to be moved inward.

Read this thread after sending you a PM, Imeo... I have the same problem (attys popping out) and my GGTS is #331... connector is same colour as the button (brass).

We screw and unscew atomizers all day guys so its not strange that threads went bad after some time. If an atomizer would last 1 year its threads would go bad too but they dont last so long to see them.

I always try to made GG in a way so anyone can change anything that will go bad with it. The newer models are more versatile on this issue but the older ones are still ok. If you are able to unscrew the connector from the cap I can send you new connectors to screw on them.
