atomizer vs cartomizer; why oh why?

i am not happy at how fast i go through atomizers... especially the dse 901 regulars...about 1 a week... of course i vape heavy and i just lovvve the first few hours of a new one, on my Provari: 2.8 Ohm at anywhere from 3.7 to 4.4v.

but i have just gotten turned on to the Iken Fusion carto (801) and the new Dual Coil cartos...

My "why" question : why the hell do attys cost so much more than cartos, when basically there seems to be more detail and material in a carto?

I mean, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot more in an atty than a carto, yet they cost at least 4 or 5 time more...... !

I posted in your other thread I think the whole deal is that the attys are suppose to last longer and are suppose to be made better thus the price increase but I think that is a whole lot of phooey. I used to use attys but am now using carts the flavor is better they last just as long and are cheaper

yeah; i have just gone through a period of loving my new Provari... regulated variable voltage ... any atty will provide its optimal vape on one of these; every click.

the focus now is on the atty... the technology is at a plateau. nothing new; rather expensive imo; and too very expendable unfortunately.

Ukeman, I use 510 atty's on my provari and usually get at least a month of vaping, if not more, out of an atty. I can't tell you much about 901 atty's, but if one takes a 510 atty apart there is much more to it than a 510 carto.

I only use joyetech and I've had great success whether it's a 2,3, or 4.5 ohm atty. I buy in bulk and order from china. I get them for $5 a piece with $3 shipping.

I could never use an atomizer for an extended period of time because I couldn't stand all of the leaking and the constant dripping. Until that is, the empiremods drip shield, which allows me to flood my atties and still keep it clean.

For me, drip shield aside, it comes down to atties can run hotter and change flavors, but they leak, they are messy, and you have to drip all the time. Cartos are cleaner, and pocketable, and require you to top off less often, but you risk smoking filler and they usually don't last as long.

I remember a lot of KR vs 510 debate before the cartos for any connection came along.

I've got a stash of authentic joye 510's 2.2 Ohm; they used to be my go to... with my Phidias which is a spicy vap'n 3.7 pv.
But with dial-in Vari on hand, i love the 901 at 2.8 Ohm set at 4.+
The 510's last me longer than the 901's, but the vape is different; it can be great, but i've found after a while it changes..
I'm sure when i run out of 901's i'm gonna resurrect my joy with the joyes...

We have both here (510). I think the cartomizers are bland and lack body (in the vapor) compared to atomizers. My son loves the cartomizers, he never got much satisfaction out of the atomizers and was always fighting them to reach his personal sweet spot.

My point is, both have their niche, it may be a matter of personal preference.

Finally, both cartomizers and atomizers last a long time for us. My 510 atomizers are now over 1 year old, I vape a lot. The cartomizers are over 6 months old. Once past an early failure period (about 20% of atomizers we've bought failed within a week or three, no early cartomizer failures to date) they seem to just keep on keepin' on.

I've been vaping more than 2 years now and I've never liked the taste of cartos. I've tried um all and they just don't compare IMO. I vape with a Phidias so dripping isn't an issue for me. Even the cheapest atty tastes better than the most expensive carto to me. But that's why they make both, because of different tastes.

sjohnson notwithstanding, most never get that kind of life if you vape "a lot"; thus the OP getting no more than 2 weeks out of DSE 901's; 510's are a different story... last longer.

But the question seems to be, how much life should one expect out of a carto, given the juice is not the clogging type.

If you use a multimeter, and the ohm measure of your atomizer is more than 5 or 6 ohms, it's likely truly dead. If within the range of about 2-5 ohms, it's likely not dead but simply not working properly due to some kind of problem that can often be cured through cleaning or dry burning (wicks can clog, coils can crust up).

It all depends on your viewpoint whether or not to clean/restore those atomizers or buy new. I find I toss atomizers that work but don't (and never did) fit my vaping style, and tend to try and keep those that "fit" me as long as possible.

I've given up on Atty's, and use my remaining to drip, occasionally, and then only when i'm sitting at home plugged into a 5v passthrough. Usually to test a couple new flavors.

I love cartomizers, for a couple reasons.

1. cheap.
2. mega size Cartos, i can fit 45 drops (give or take) vape for 4+ hours (at my vape rate) and never have to mess around, no filling, no top off, no dripping, no leaking
3. cheap also means i can sit down in the morning spend less then 10 minutes filling 3 carto's with totally different flavors. I'm good to go all day.

Bottomfeeders are why a lot of us use attys. Dripping is a hassle, but botomfeeding is heaven. My provari just kinda sits there and watches these days as I already know the combo I like: 1.8 ohm Cisco 510s and 306s. No leakage on the reo as it has a juice resevoir just like my provari.
