Hello,

I just used a new atomizer and it seems to have a wicking problem. I use a drip tip and i put in 3 drips, it allows a drag (2-3) then just goes too nothing with a burnt taste. No amount of sitting seems to fix it unless i take a drag without activating the burner. I put another drop in, it fixes it for another 2-3 drags. I thought maybe it was dry but i eventually flooded the atty with still getting the burnt taste (its not BURNT as in every hit taste bad).

Ive done this 2-3 times today trying to fix it making sure its not user error

Is there a way to fix this? Or should i jsut use a cart and fill that up and try that? I never had this problem before.

You need to look at the wick..the feather looking stuff tucked under the steel mesh bridge...is it touching the bottom of the attomiser, or are its ends suspended up in mid air? Burning that quick is an indication of a misplaced wick. But if you like to drip, you need to remove the wick. But on a 3.7 battery, you should be using carts. The dripping thing can be quite inconsistant. But it shouldnt burn quickly.....Better question..what site did you buy your gear from? Pm me this info, in case I cant find the thread again, or just forget.

Well, genrally its a bowtie, looped on one side. BUT joye has had minor issues and their getting spiratic. Thats if you have a JOYE 510 atty. Some atties are REALLY hard to see the wicks, and some wicks are wound way to much and kind of make an S shape, with the top part properly placed as a bowtie, but the botom curves underneith and lays on the coil. You recognize THOSE because you see the frayed ends laying on the coil, poking out one side. ( I go through WAY to many 510 atties) Its hard to describe in words. In person I can fix em in 30 seconds flat, but on forum, Im hoping words will be graceful and enlightening. :p

Put it this way..teh bridge runs one direction, and a piece of steel and that bridge are what sandwicheds the wick and holds it in place. The coil runs the opposite direction underneith that bridge, and heats up. The wick is a bowtie, or supposed to be, that lines up directly above that coil so as to hold the liquid directly above that heat..thats how 510s work so well and create so much vapor and hit.....a misplaced wick can throw it all out of whack because that coil heats up fast. If teh wick is touching it, it will burn fast, and will do so unless you basically keep the atty flooded. Only fix is to move the wick off of the coil, maybe trim it, or remove it completly, which I dont recommend any new users attempt.

So i decided to remove the threads. I thought it worked until 3 drags later i got a burnt taste again.

So i figured I would remove the bridge (after watching a video tutorial) After doing that i saw some threads (which i thought i removed all of them) were wrapped or underneeth the coil. After removing those, i dripped and vaped and vaped and vaped and NO MORE BURNT TASTE.

It doesn't taste as good (not as strong or flavorful as it regularly tastes but its a hell of alot better then having that nasty burnt taste and when i mean burnt i mean BURNT). The atomizer gets hot quicker as well as burns juice alot quicker, but that's a sacrifice i will have to make considering it would have been a atty that i would have never used for the fact that it tasted really burnt all the time before i removed the bridge.

My other atty which is blk cherry flavor is working fine for the last week (i will not remove the bridge/wick as it has no problems at all) but again i removed it from this one because that burnt taste was horrible.

Seeing as i removed the bridge, im sure people has done it was well, how often do i need to drip and how much? I'm doing 2 drips dirrectly on the coil and re drip as i get alot less vaper.

Ok, then you got a bad atty...I find 1 out of 10 to be that way, with wick touching coil. Its fixable, but you need a surgeons hand and a lot of experience to fix it without removing or messing up the wick. Its just one of those quirks. Sometimes a dry burn will roast out those fibres next time around if need be. But for now, it was a misplaced wick, and a learning experience. :)
