I'm on my third week of vaping and my fourth atomizer. Granted, I ruined two while trying to clean them, but I'm starting to get discouraged. I'm using the eGo-T (which I love) but the atomizers are expensive. I took the metal plate off the atomizer and soarked both pieces in IPA. The wick turned out sparkling white and i let it sit out for 24 hours to dry before putting back together. Both times the wick would burn away after trying to vape it again. Like literally disappear after one nasty smokey hit. I didnt adjust the placemen of the wick so I have no idea how that could have happened twice now. I have 2 LR attys that I cant stand....they make every juice taste I normally vape taste the exact same (like some weird tobacco flavor).

Im considering hanging up the towel on the eGo-t and switching to the Provari + cartomizers in hopes that it will all work a little bit better. Does anyone have any tips, atty stories, or words of encouragement for me? Im getting frustrated and my wallet is getting much lighter.

When I was using the ego-t, I blew them out once or twice a day. Occasionally, I'd give them a hot water bath and blow out.

I did not disassemble them. Unless you are replacing the wick, there is no need to disassemble them.

So, if you continue with the ego-t, I think you'll have a lot better luck if you avoid dis-assembly.

That said: I don't remember the last time I used the tank attys. It has been a few months. I have an assortment of other things, but you can't go wrong with some boge or smoke tech 1.7, 1.8, or 2.0 ohm cartos on your ego batteries. A lot of people consider the provari to be a very desirable mod, but it's expensive.

I thought I read a post somewhere that said the wick does need to be adjusted in some atties, even new ones. The wick should be placed just peaking at the top of the tube that pierces the tank. As far as I know that worked for some folks. I thought I saw that in the e-go thread.

I have been trouble free with mine, knock on wood.

I must be lucky as heck, but I've never had a bad eGo T atty. If you're not getting enough vapor just get a LR version.

After using two LR atty's for 3 months I finally got a new one as backup. The old ones were just as good as the new one ! I couldn't tell any difference. And I NEVER cleaned the old ones in 3 months ! I certainly would never think of taking them apart !

ONE of my LR atty's finally went out after 8 months . And yes, I cleaned them a little later, but I'm not sure it had any effect.

Part of my luck may be due to using extremely thin juice...80% PG /20% VG and a nicotine solution with only a few percent menthol drops added.

Just my 2 cents.

I feel your pain as I have the same setup and the same problems. The atty is the weak link. I have an A2 on the way and I think this will be the answer. Here is a good deal but you better jump on it before someone else does.

Thanks for all of your replies!

I got a very helpful PM from Brianishiwa who recommended that I try some Boge cartomizers instead. I'm such a noob I didn't even realize I could use anything besides the eGo-T atty!

I put an order in for some standard and LR cartos (both slotted) and an aluminum Liquinator tank. I still have a feeling the whole "tank" system is right for me, as I can't be bothered to drip and don't like to carry bottles around with me. Its gotten some pretty good reviews so I thought I'd give it a shot! Its just a shame the the eGo-T attys have been giving me so much trouble, otherwise I would have absolutely nothing bad to say about the eGo-T.

I was able to resurrect the atty with the burnt wick however, which I'm still surprised at. The wick is pretty small now, but after cleaning it and doing some dry burns on the atty (never done that before) the awful flavor is gone and it is actually performing surprisingly well. Hope has been renewed for my eGo-T . . . I'll upgrade within the year for sure, but I wan't to get my moneys worth out of this PV first.

On a slightly unrelated note, my main vapes are Bounty Hunter (65pg, 35vg I think) and Boba's Bounty (100vg). I notice the more VG i'm using, the quicker the atty clogs. So today I added a few drops of vodka to a tank of Boba's Bounty and it is vaping better than it ever has with no noticeable loss of flavor. Is this technique sustainable in the long run or do I somehow risk my atomizer further by doing this? I really think that thinning out the liquid is going to help as my wife is using 100% PG on her eGo-T (90% of the time) and is still on the original atomizer, which is still working absolutely flawless.

I appreciate everyone's comments!

A good dry burning method can be found by looking for the thread title resurrector mod, there is a great dry burning tutorial that works wonders. Not sure about vg clogging atties, but usually darker juices and tobaccos have been historically noted as serious offenders. Also, I have found some atties stand up better to dry burning, like ikens. I have dry burnt that thing almost every other night and it is still going after 2 months. For the future,it also helps to have a set up that can take multiple batteries, when you find atties start to get sluggish at one voltage, you can just throw in some 5 volt batts and continue to use for a while.

The more I read, the more I'm sure I'll never try anything with an atty in it. Cleaning, burning taste, wearing out, expensive. I think I'll stick to cartomizers.

If you like dripping I suggest trying bridgeless atomizers. No wick, we have converted a lot of people who don't like attys to this and it works well for him. Me being one who loves cartomizers!

While dark juices and high VG content def does clog cartos, I feel the biggest culprit to shortened carto use is juices with sediments in them. They by far clog cartos the quickest. I've been vaping 3 juice a lot lately. One is 85% VG but without sediments(it's thick!), and the other is 80%PG/20%VG but with sediments. The one with sediments is thin but it still clogs my ressurectors much faster than the 85%VG juice. I've been using the same carto for the thick juice for the last 3 weeks without any problems, but with the thin juice with sediments I get about a week out of a carto before it is fairly clogged.
I'd try to stay away from juices with sediments if you can and your attys/cartos should last alittle longer
