There are many factors, especially with the newer TC mods and wires used for it.

Kanthal A1 and Nichrome:

Sudden drop or spike in resistance from one moment to the next
1) Sudden drop -> Short or connection has come loose, recheck your coil and connections
2) Sudden Spike -> Possible loose connection or lead has shifted -> check your coil and connections
3) Fluctuating coil resistance, one moment it is high, next moment is lower than coil head is rated -> unstable coil leg in the head, constant heat and cooling is causing a not tight coil lead/leg to continually shift (qc problem), replace head

General Resistance Changes:

Gradual Increase in resistance over time -> Coil is aging. As kanthal and nichrome along with most metals are heated and cooled repeatedly forms crystals in the metal alloy, these crystals impede current thus increase resistance. Not drastically changing, but what was once a 1.0ohm coil, in a month could be a 1.1 or 1.2ohm coil

Gradual decrease in resistance -> 510 connection issue, check you 510 pins are not recessed far on your mod and atty/tank, clean the connections with paper towels, napkins, q-tips, or a spare rag, isopropyl alcohol also helps cleaning up gunk

Nickel (Ni200) and Titanium Wire in a TC coil:

Resistance increases each time you use it consecutively in a vaping spurt (over 5 minutes for example) then drops to original reading after 30minutes no use, this is normal, resistance increases as wire gets hotter, with a TC mod this is how it determines coil temperature, some older TC boards continually adjusted for this after each firing, adding more and more voltage each consecutive firing, eventually scorching, most newer TC boards have a lock in feature to lock the coil resistance display and apply voltage only enough for the initial locked in reading.
