Needed to replace the firing panel, but managed to kill my gasket in the process. The pin keeps going right through the rubber when I push it down far enough. Is this something I can find at Home Depot or do I need to send off for a new repair kit for this little rubber piece?

Do you still have the small white plastic washer? If not you need a rebuild kit, which will include one on the pin. This prevents the gasket from deforming when you put the pin in and letting it slide through. Tiny, but important, nonetheless.

Thank you - couldn't think of the word for it - the washer. Sadly they are BOTH damaged. The old one got damaged coming out and the new one got damaged going in. Both tore =(

It looks like the slotted top of the pin has broken off and is missing in you picture
Also the thin gasket protector piece is missing
The pin gasket looks fine but you will definitely need a new pin

The pin itself is fine .. the washer is torn so when i push down the gasket doesn't budge and pin slips under the lip of the gasket.
That tiny stinking piece of plastic. lol. UGH

The slotted head of the pin is definitely missing
Unless you have the pin upside down, and are feeding the pin up from the bottom
The pin head keeps the pin from sliding all the way through the gasket
There is nothing to hold the pin in the gasket, its just going to fall right through

You have probably already done this, but there is a video on the reomods site where rob walks you through this. If you haven't checked it out, it is worth a couple minutes

Yeah I did... even the part where Rob warns that you have to be careful or you'll ruin the gasket didn't save me from ruining the gasket. LOL.

Hmm maybe I'll just send it to Rob and have him fix it for me rather than buying another repair kit and destroying it again.

Thank god my second REO arrived last week.

I had a similar problem some weeks ago. Installing the 510, I couldn't get the small side of the sil gasket to slide into the alu hole. Sitting on top, the gasket was too high and destroyed the white washer during the following tightening of the center pin. After ruining a couple of washers, I treaded my Grand to a spa visit. Rob got the problem fixed.

Nope, I tried to insert the gasket seperately, but was not successful. The small gasket side was too big to be inserted. Tried tweezers, even tried thread to make it smaller. I could not think of any tool, that would fit into the 510 juice catcher of a standard (nonLP) Grand. Searched thru my electronic toolbox, but even the smallest stripping pliers, that could have compressed the gasket end, could be used close to that hole.
Felt like an idiot. If anyone knows a trick to get it in, let me know...

It is 100% there, the head of the pin with the slot is in tact and does not fall through. you cannot see the the slot because it is being hidden by the lip of the gasket on both sides.

Yep, exactly! I think mine could use a spa day too.

I believe the 510 pin is the perfect tool for that, turn it upside down and use it to seat the gasket (the larger silicone one, not the small thin white one) nice and snug(ly) :)

I find that it really helped to wet the silicone gasket with water and it slid right in.

Then putting in the pin with the Teflon wafer is a cinch.
Darn, didn't think of that. Thus I had to send in and Rob LPed it along the way.
He did a great job, absolutely flawless.
From this Point of view, it was good to have a reason to send it in :)

If you need some gaskets I can help There is no need to buy a whole kit . Of course your welcome to send the mod to me

This, right here, is why everyone loves rob. Some business owners would only sell the entire rebuild kit, but rob is a nice guy who just wants everyone's mods to work well. He did this same thing for me when I over tightened one of the post screws on my rm2. It snapped one of the posts and a few days later, I had new posts in my mailbox.

Rob is a great dude. If everyone were like rob, this world would be even better.
