its getting to the stage that a few people in the modders forum would like a sticky thread put in place listing mods done by modders in one easy to find place
just a thread with mods by modders and not filled with chit chat
posts in the rest of the modders forum can be done for that
the gallery thread would have to be "monitored" to remove chat posts though to keep it neat

personally id nominate
Dstruct
mjp808
ripley
probably others i cant think of right now
it would be good for someone to get straight to a thread showing all the different mods that have been done by people here , so many good ideas/designs and info on what can be used and how to do it , its a shame to lose them as they dissapear from the front page into obscurity

No problemo! I'm happy to have one of you guys moderate the forum - if you'd like to agree amongst yourselves who'd do that, I'll change the permissions over.

Thanks!

i put some names in there that i could think of from the top of my head
there are others but i had some brain fade
so whos up for it

Can I suggest a subforum rather than stickies. Stickies would soon take up a lot of space.
Each mod would be reprsented by two thread. XXX: What and How and XXX: Discussion
with the first maintained by the originator with all the key photos etc, cribbed from existing posts most likely; this thread cannot be posted to by others. The discussion thread allows others to comment on and ask about how to do something etc.

There are some 15+ good mods to go in here. Besides the Magnum and Juicebox classics and variations some by Madog, Tinnear, Smokeindeuce, Secondson2929 and RjG come to mind besides those you already mentioned, and I'm sure there are more.

subforums ey? if it works out to be a neater solution im all for it
will see where this goes with input from some other modders when they make an appearance
(when im sober ill reread this to see if it makes sense, its late evening here atm;) )

I kinda like the subforum idea. I can see three major categories within mods: battery mods like the Magnum and Juice Box, atomizer mods like the halogen lamp idea, and cart mods like making your 510 cart fit your 901 atomizer. I could almost see a place for cosmetic mods too like sanding and painting and customizing the appearance of your e-cig.

I thought SunVaporer was the moderator for the mod forum:confused:. His name appears in the mods list on that forum and not other forums. I could be wrong or out of date.

I spend a LOT of time lurking the mod forum and trying to copycat mods. I try not to post, because I know so little, but I'm learning a lot from you guys and probably could learn more if we had some sort of organization.

I like the idea of different sub-forums too. This would provide a place for finished mods, how-tos etc. and then leave a general forum for bouncing ideas, speculation and talk about modding. It would definitely take some work as someone would need to go through all the threads and catagorize them, then try to keep them that way. I have seen stuff in the "tips and tricks" that should be here too (madog's tire valve vid for example.)

Yeah, a lot of the mod stuff that was on the forum before the server change and the new organization is over there in Tips and Tricks. It used to be lumped in there with all the stuff about filcking your atomizer and cleaning your atomizer, etc. At the time, it was the best organization we had. Now, we need someone to bring that info over here to the mods forum, and to make, at the very least, a few categories within the mods forum. I could even live with different subforums for each category if we had to do it that way. I don't know how intricate we are able to get with the concept of forums within forums within forums, so ANY organization at this point would be welcomed.

smokey is willing to give someone "moderator" status for this forum
that will enable that person to oversee how it is setup
sunvapourer you seem to be level headed and a prolific poster with an idea on how things should go
so a +1 vote for you to take the lead on this

if any other modders want to step up for a vote please do
id like everyone in here to be happy with the decison , the mod role is not for me to take

we are lucky that this forum is rather spam free and generally stays on topic
its just losing past threads on mods done that has my concern

Sun is already a moderator, and all-round great guy, but not really a techie. Better to have someone familiar with modding for this and who is not tied too closely with one (perhaps too much to ask and proly unnecessary). Most importantly, someone who has the time! And that's certainly not me. How about Nicowolf - he has lots of energy, articulate and has lots of ideas (not all of them zany) ;)

ok i didnt know sun was already a moderator:oops:
but i definitely know that nicowolf is a sheila:lol:

still need someone to put a hand up to take up the challenge and keep us and this section of the forum inline

Sun is working on this issue behind the scenes. Please give a little time to sort out some stuff like asking SJ for some permissions.

Oops, sorry Sun, you're a guy with many talents. Just didn't see you post in this forum recently - but I don't / can't read everything.

If you've time to do it, that's good, but you are already so busy with testing and helping newbies and more. Maybe it would be better to have more people more involved.

Anyway, when this is all nicely arranged, more and more people will come here to learn how to build their own misty / juicy box :)

Sun is a modder par excellence! :thumb:
With his help we're already on our third generation of battery boxes within a month - all running now to perfection! He's always coming up with new ideas to improve , we almost can't keep up with him! ;-)
Could never have done any of these mods without his attention to detail and most of all his patience in teaching!

I still think it would be better to have a 'Sticky subforum' rather than stickies appearing at the start of every page loaded. Because there's going to be more than 10.

Subforums for battery, atomiser, cartridge, case/cosmetic that Nicowolf decribed would be good, with stickies then more manageable, although the battery subforum might need further division by say, torch mods, box mode,...

Or, simplest of all, one sticky (best threads - best mods, how-tos and reference materials) that has links to the best threads with a brief description of each one.

The reference materials should not be overlooked. All the mA of such and such bettery, thread types, compatibilities, sizes, nichrome wire thickness in a 901 etc etc. This can be done by type (901,902,...).
