Hey everyone,

Tuesday night I ordered a car charging setup, 2 30ml Tribeca bottles, 2 more mini tanks, and an extra battery. Decided on a XL 102mm. Stuff got here lightning fast as usual. Charged the battery for 8 hrs, connected a freshly topped off (but not too full) mini tank that was on it's 4-5th day of use. 1st drag was decent, second drag was Terrible, got a mouth full of BURNT something. Subsequent drags BURNT. Having 3 spare mini tanks, I tossed that one, used a cart for 20 min, then reconnected to a charger for another hour. Get home, new tank filled, given 15-20 min for the wick to absorb the liquid. Reconnect, and now things are back to normal. Noticing the tank is getting way hotter, and noticing after 4-5 straight drags I'm having to let off a bit in fear of burning up another tank. Is there some sort of incompatibility Btwn mini tank and xl battery I'm not aware of? Am I doing something wrong here? Specs state voltage are no different Btwn 78mm and 102mm batteries.

Few days later and things are the same, save the fact I hadn't burned another tank yet. After 4-5 drags I'm getting a hint of something burning in the tank, and once I let off and let it cool a bit, it seems to go away. I've filled a LR cart and connected it to the large battery, and it is working fine. I'm really afraid of burning my tanks up, but aside from that, the large battery is functioning fine. I'm getting great performance from the battery.

I didn't say anything earlier because I wanted to see how things went after a full day, but last night, I opened a new mini tank up, and instead of filling it straight away, I rinsed it w/ hot tap water like some do when cleaning them. I let it sit overnight to dry, and around 1 this afternoon, it was dry enough to use. I filled it up, and connected it to the freshly charged xl battery. I've also ensured to top the tank off when it reaches around .5ml just to keep the wicks saturated, and even with chain vaping, so far so good. No burning that I can smell. I am still backing off when the tank gets super hot, but aside from that, things seem to be going well. Crossing my fingers....

If notice in the pic the connectors [two on the right] sit a bit higher in the thread socket, are flatter and have more surface area than the manuals. My manuals will only fire 2 or 3 each of my 8 mini-tanks. The automatics IME work with near perfect consistency with the minis. The manuals have been consistent with most cartos.
You can try and raise the contact pin of the manuals with a toothpick or very small screwdriver but why bother?

Unless you've got a defective one, I don't think it's the battery. They're supposed to output the same voltage as the Triton batteries, and people aren't burning mini tanks left and right with those.

What juice are you using? Tiki Juice has been wreaking havoc on my coils. The rest have been fine. Perhaps whatever you're using could be a bit too thick?

102 auto? Wasn't aware that was an option. Doesn't give you a choice when ordering from the site...I can see what you're saying though, there's definitely a difference Btwn them. Looks like I'll have to try an auto.

Ive used nothing but 24mg/ml Tribeca. I've not used any of the other juices to compare to.

I'm vaping some Tribeca right now. :vapor: Tribeca's not too thick I don't think. Your manual's probably making just intermittent contact with the mini-tanks post causing a short and making it overheat. The three G6 automatic batteries I own work with all 8 min-tanks I own. The manuals.....not so much. But I've kept them for backup as they still both work with carto's.
And Halo's hot right now so sometimes you gotta stalk their site until the item you want is restocked.

Tribeca is awesome :vapor: I thought I saw somewhere else that it only came in manual, guess I'll keep looking. To be honest, I probably won't purchase another xl, not til they offer it in the other colors, anyway. It's weird because that first tank is the one that really burned. Since I rinsed the tank all is well. I really do like the xl batteries, my last charge got me through 10 hrs of heavy Vaping.

Being as these are unregulated batteries, it is possible to get one that charges just a bit "hot" over the 4.2v peak. Sometimes a battery like that will settle down on subsequent charging. Although rated at 3.7 volts, at the peak of being freshly charged, a 4.2v reading is normal enough. I would think that to "burn" with the mini tank, it probably peaked over that, at least initially.

So, a few days later, and I've got a pattern pegged down, and it's exactly what you've said. I am noticing that the most "burnt" taste I'm getting is when the battery is straight off the charger, at its full charge. After 30-45 minutes of use, it's functioning flawlessly. Somehow rinsing the tank w/ hot water abs allowing it to dry overnight has helped as well. Regardless, I'm definitely satisfied with the battery performance I'm getting, but I'll most likely try an automatic xl battery too.... When they are offered in other colors :vapor: Thank you for everyone that posted with their thoughts and experience, I greatly appreciate it!
