Today, I had the chance to meet with a top political advisor to the Gov. Pat Quinn!

Daniel Biss is a Democratic candidate for the Illinois House of Representatives in the 17th District. After the removal of Rod Blagojevich, incoming Governor Pat Quinn asked Daniel to serve as a policy advisor, focusing on transparency and ethical reform.

I showed him a VK and we discussed E-Cigs and the benefits of usiung it as well as the pending bill here in Illinois

He told me "Its a no brainer!" and that Illinois should not ban it.

I gave him the bill number and we then exchanged contact information. He will call me in about 3 days to let me know what he can do about it..

Since he is still the policy advisor to the Gov., I think we may have a bit of hope before this thing gets passed!

I think you just bought yourself a job as the official lobbyist for vapers everywhere!

Seriously though, great work! How did you get to meet with him? Is he a friend or business acquaintance, or did you go through regular channels to book an appointment with him? If this is something others could do as well, it could be a tremendous help for the cause!

Tenebrae, Arnold is the man there, I thought. Iirc, he vetoed the attempts to ban ecigs, didn't he?

It's good of course that he vetoed for any reason, but it wasn't that he was being 'the man' about it. It's been 'established' that he wasn't standing up for ecigs/vapers, only saying he'd leave that decision to existing fed court (S.E./NJOY) case. Was also referring to ecigs as 'tobacco products' at that time/in his statement, since not even the prelim injunction by Judge Leon declaring them so had come down by then. Which has of course since been stayed by the appeals court, so they're no longer being considered tobacco products on an interim/temp basis either.

And now, there's a new bill in CA seeking to declare them a drug thus effectively banning them, tho some here have said it will be modified to only prohibit sales to minors.
