...and tell us "your order has shipped"--when all you did was print out the shipping label!

We're not moorons! We can clearly see when the package is first scanned into the post office...and it screws up our vape-mix-plans/schedule when you lie.

We also know that you CAN adjust your automated emails to say anything you want them to say. How about...

Your package is ready for shipping and here is the tracking number - but it won't actually ship until we get our butts to the post office.

STOP! STOP! STOP! with the BS shipping notifications.

All done rant.

Show that sceptor, we2! That'll teach 'em the rules. :)

The Rule of Thumb is: If and when you don't ship my parcel on the day you told me you shipped it, I'm gonna get out my trusty ole can of whoopass...and look at it and wish I could do something about it. And then go whine on ECF.

Thank you Huckleberried (again & forever) for that image :)

That, sir/madam, is a valid rant - in my book.

This kind of vendor behavior makes me wonder what other deceptions are being practiced...

Thank you!

The biggest deception is that they think have a working brain. Irritating, inconveniencing, and lying to your paying customers is just STUPID. And of course, if they're stupid enough to do that, then...well, what you said.

In my business I mark them shipped when they leave my hands which is putting them out for the pickup. Sometimes the night before since the post office picks up late afternoon. Not a vaping business just another thought of why the tracking might list weird. Also my post office being rural scanning of items is very hit and miss and not trustworthy on dates and times.

MBV and Halo (and the many other vendors I have ordered from): white cloud, vapor wholesale, lightning vapes via amazon (btw, regular amazon does the same thing, so does Walmart when you order online), discount vapers, etc, ALL do the same thing. They print an electronic label, you automatically get shipping notice (this also works with ups, FedEx, and ontrac). The reason you get shipping notice is they sign you up to receive notice via email. It is automated. On ebay, the sellers don't get the shipping discount unless they go through this process,

I actually get a delivered by date on eBay, amazon and Walmart prior to placing order by a certain time. I got a little worried when a new vendor I used for hardware on eBay didn't ship when they said they would (and electronic shipping notice sent a day later, then package accepted 2 days after they said they would ship, BUT, they are shipping by the delivery date, and the estimate by post office is still the same date (yes). So even if it comes a day later, I can live with that (I put that into account with USPS).

What gets interesting is when UPS holds the shipment, even though they have it, until the shipping due date, part of the contract. Ontrac and UPS smartpost sometimes deliver a day early, but I need to stay home for UPS and FedEx deliveries. FedEx SOMETIMES delivers early. They are actually more real time the ups, which can cause a delay too (and get you some credit with amazon, if you're a frequent shopper :D.

Just saying, the better prices and free shipping mean lower man power spent creating shipping labels electronically. I COULD call the seller out on eBay for a credit, but not so much, MBV first class and priority get here on the same days, so no problems since so close with lower and free shipping (priority). Halo gave me a credit for late shipment. Wholesale vapors was my first MVP, so was little anxious, but they are wholesale site, they ship within 48 to 72 hours, MBV wholesale takes 7 days. Discount vapors has the same time frame for shipping that the others have (within 24 hours, electronic shipping received.) :2c:

Personally, having sold online myself, I don't mind so much. When I sell online less, I actually pay for confirmation, and take to post office, I'm a one man (woman) show, and I need to sell something for over $100 to actually show a volume of $100 (not profit).

I could see where this might engulf some folks

But I say, don't sweat the small stuff (especially if ordering wholesale). :vapor:

If yer basing any "planning" for future "vape-mix-plans/schedule" on when an order is shipped well.... yer doin' it wrong.

Plan well ahead.
More often as not actual shipment movement is much more dependent on the carrier then the vendor.

It's widely understood, or at least it should be, that most "Your Item Has Shipped" notices are automatically generated by the various systems available to businesses. IMO any instance of a vendor "lying" by way of their use of shipping notices would be the extreme exception rather than any sense of the norm.

I'm of the mind that by and large the folks that order goods and services are indeed not maroons, and therefore more than capable of dealing with the realities.

I guess I have better things to do than sit and watch my packages make their way to me. I used to get excited when I ordered something, but now it is old hat so to speak. I certainly will keep an eye out for the mailman when a package is out for delivery though. Since I just am ordering for myself and not following a certain "mix" schedule, I try to think ahead and order items I know I'll need in the near future and hence avoid having to worry to the minute about when my package is moving. Then when a vendor "lies" to me about when the package was shipped I don't have to blow a gasket. Most peeps understand that shipping notices are generated when a shipping label is made, right? You just have to learn to compensate a little when that email comes stating that the package has been shipped. And as stated above, many shippers give a "to be delivered by date" when you check the tracking.
I prefer to worry about whether my chair is properly aligned to the sun for good tanning or if my current cotton wick has too much or too little cotton. We all have out pet worries I suppose......

Since moving back to Michigan from Arizona in February, I haven't had to worry about my chair being aligned to the sun for good tanning. Now frostbite, windburn, floods (after the massive amount of snow finally melted) have been my worries. Big heat wave today, supposed to hit 60

Cheers,
Steve

Steve, I'm so sorry I left the north out of my worries... that was very rude of me.... lol. I used to live in Bay City and while I do not miss winter that much, especially what I heard about this past winter, I do miss MI big time. How I'd love to hook into a steelhead again.
As I align my chair today, I promise I'll think of you up there dealing with the anticipated heat wave..... please use enough sunscreen when you go out!!!!!!

Go blue.......

I print postage online often. One program can be modified with a note, one cannot. If I print postage on a Saturday afternoon, I can change the date to Monday when it will go out, but the email is automatically sent when I pay for postage for both of them. I'd hate to think someone thought I was lying when the post office is just closed until the next business day.
Even vendors have supplier problems. I wouldn't think anyone was automatically lying or being sleazy.

I do the same thing, printing labels from Paypal. Even if I package it on a Sunday and drop in the mailbox, and even if I date it for Monday, I've frequently found when I check online my local post office won't actually mark it as scanned it until Tuesday. I even tried taking it to the box at the PO but got the same results!

That is very true about the hit n miss. I have several times now ranted at a vendor for sending me a shipping/tracking email, and then seeing *nothing* on that tracking page for up to 24 hrs... but it's not really the vendors' fault. It's the totally incompetent USPS who can't even be bothered to run a scanner over something, so it doesn't get scanned till it hits the NEXT stop on the way to wherever. The USPS is *itself* hit n miss!
