Just a random rant about usps tracking...

Why do they charge to track a package, and not track it? You get your tracking number, put it in the tracking site, and you get back "shipping info received". The site does not update until it arrives to its final city and is out for delivery.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a tad ......ed?

I agree, and I never use the USPS tracking as a definitve source. I pretty much know how long it's going to take to receive a package sent either Priority (2 days) or Express (normally 3 days) mail, so it's not that big of a deal to me. It certainly isn't as good as UPS or FedEx tracking, but it is cheaper.

I'll go you one better. Yesterday I got my e-juice but not my Gemini. I check USPS and it shows the Gemini has been received and sorted and is ready to be delivered, so being all impatient I go to the Post Office to just pick it up yesterday. After 20 minutes of waiting, the guy comes back and tells me he had to get his supervisor to help look it up, and it's still on a pallet with like 200-300 other packages and they have no clue which one it might be because "it hasn't been sorted yet". Stupid website. It said sorted and ready for delivery. It's like dealing with the IRS.

At least the Gemini is waiting at the house for me now. Can't wait to bust it open and get to real vaping

Yep, you keep looking every day and several times a day and it still shows the original shipping point for a couple days then the package arrives. You check the tracking and presto, it updates then to show it was delivered. I don't even bother looking at the crap any more.

I went to the PO once looking for a priorty package that they show will take two days. The guy tells me it's not a guarenteed two days! Doh!

I just dont understand it, its a service people pay for, its like $4, so why wait to update when it arrives at the final destination. i dont need to know when its finally out for delivery... i know its out for delivery, its out for delivery the second i get a shipping confirmation!!

it is easy to kind of guess when something is supposed to be in the mail box just judging from the priority level. priority is guaranteed 2-3 day, theyre pretty good about it, regular shipping is 4-5, so shipping usps is not the worst thing in the world, they are pretty quick about getting things done in a timely matter... just the damn tracking gets on my nerves

I pay for the Priority Mail shipping through USPS because I have to if I want to get my package sooner rather than later. And when I say sooner I mean anytime from 2 weeks to 4 weeks, later would be 8 weeks round about. It's the joy of living overseas with the military. I pay for my package to FLY out to me rather than sit in a BOAT on the way here.
I have the same problem with the tracking through USPS. If my stuff flies out of New York it will tell me when it leaves New York and won't let me know when it arrives here until after I've already gotten it. If my stuff flies out of New Jersey it will tell me when everything left and then update no more, I have a package that flew out of Jersey a month ago that still says it's en route but I've already received it.
My PV is on it's way here from New York, but for some stupid reason I can't comprehend it flew to Jersey first, huh? Left the 25th from New York and Left Jersey on the 1st, that made no sense at all. It should (hopefully be here) end of this week (cross my fingers) or beginning of next week (again cross my fingers).

Yes It All Depends On When They Want To Walk Over & Start Sorting The pallets Of Packages...Oh Don't Agrivate The Counter People To Go Back & Look Too Often Because They Will Play Mind Games Too.......... Also Only If It Is Scanned Will The Tracking Update Itself..Scanning Is Done By The Sorter & Counter Person..No Scanny No Update

Wait until your package is sent, by your shipper, via USPS and THEY (as in USPS) put it in another package and send out via another carrier and it winds up taking 10 days to get a USPS Delivery Confirmation package that should have taken 4 days (the first order only took 4 days). USPS even confirmed to me "when UPS or Federal Express arrives we will deliver your package".

Delivery confirmation is free with priority mail and cost .18 for lst class. The best thing to do put tracking numer under tract and comfirm and post an email to be sent to you when updated. You will get an email telling you when your package has arrived.

Remember if a package weighs over 13oz. it must be shipped priority. So I would guess at what you ordered before paying extra for priority.

My husband uses USPS for his business. He rarely has a problem. In 10 years of dong business they only loss 2 package and these were found in a couple of weeks.

I'm surprised more businesses don't just use UPS. I can ship out from my work with UPS and we get to skip the handling fees, so it ends up being cheaper than USPS and you get to have the tracking as well.

Well ups is more expensive, so the cost savings isworth it to use usps. im not complaining about usps shipping, rather just their tracking methods... out makes no sense to me to offer tracking, but only update the tracking site once the shipment has arrived at its final city and us out for delivery.

My P.O. has already seemed to stop its Saturday Package deliveries. If the weather is great, maybe. Any other weather, forget it.
Same with tracking numbers on the packages I get and ones I send. People who I send stuff to, think I am stringing them along because USPS will not update the Numbers.
I tell them you will get it before the page says where it is. Frustrating to all concerned but its also not UPS or Fed-Ex prices and I've has way to many broken things with Ups.
Come on, we gotta understand, Its a Government Business and we all know how well they operate.
