I use 3.0 ohms. Works well between 4.4 and 6.0.

This is definitely a good one.

I would say, get one in different resistances and see how you like it. 1.5ohm with 3.7v yields approximately 9watts. The 4.4v on a 3ohm would be significantly cooler where as the same atty resistance with 6v would be 'gunz-a-blazin' so to speak.

Experiment, only you can prevent forest fires... er, I mean, only you can decide what vapes good for you ;)

I use anywhere from 2.5 to 3.5 ohms. It all depends on what atomizers my co-workers what to get that month. Its pretty neat to have a group of guys you work with all vaping. Once a month we place a large order of atomizers/cartomizers etc. Its nice because we can trade and try new things.

Back to your post. I calculate the wattage with a new atty. I start around 8-9 watts and then tweak the voltage from there. Watts = Volts X Volts / Resistance.

Yes if its VV then you can tune the voltage to what you like. I should have said that I use attys/cartos with ohms all over the range. I know I tend to like 8-9 watts so I measure the resistance on the atty/carto and get a ball park voltage I should use. It gives me a pretty consistent vape regardless of the atty I am using. I am effectively doing what the Darwin is designed to do.

The point is, I don't use only one resistance in an atty. I use the whole range and I am able to get what I like with VV.

You also might find your LRs better on vv as most of them can go lower than 3.7v if that's to hot for you with them. I wouldn't recommend buying LR for a vv as you reduce the optimal operational range with them and battery life will not be as good as with higher ohms but if you already have some it might get you some use out of em.
