The Quit campaign in Australia has been very successful in lobbying for plain packaging and for price increases. Also many areas including outside such as beaches, outdoor eating areas parks etc are now smoke free. After 57 yrs I have now given up cigs and taken up vaping. Not had a single puff of a cig for 7 months. The worry is they are now turning their attention to vaping. they are concerned that non smoking teenagers will take up vaping - my grandkids tell me vaping is sooo uncool. All you Aussies out there you need to fight to keep vaping out of the clutches of the government, the Cancer Councils and the so called academic experts in the field of smoking cessation.
Thanks for the forum - keep vaping not smoking:)

Thankyou for the welcome Woodhippy. The tax on cigarettes here have a built in 12 1/2% increase every year. they say it is to pay in advance for the health care of cig smokers. No other lifestyle choices attract the same attention. People who are overweight, people born with a lifetime disability, people who don't exercise, none of these pay in advance and neither should they, and neither should tobacco users.
